  1. The two looms have different connectors based on the original headunit. 2008-2010 had minidisc players and external TV decoder boxes. 2010 onwards removed the minidisc and used the space to integrate the TV decoder. This is why the connectors changed. Do you still have the original Toyota unit? Check the connectors on the back. The next thing is, how many speakers do you have? If you have the 8 speaker setup, you don't need the 'optical' most decoder box. If you have more than this, you do need the decoder.
  2. Seen your message. I'll send a link.
  3. No link in your message. There are two looms that have different connectors for the standard power, antennas, rear screen etc. And then there are 2 versions of those 2 looms that include a MOST Audio/video converter and park assist camera converter.

  5. we cant help further. If you re using diagnostics tools, then you need to use tools that work. Techstream is that tool. Techstream is a tool used by toyota dealers, im surprised your guy with a van full of computers is not aware of it, as it is the tool used on ALL toyota and Lexus, officially. But if a cheap cable is too much unnecessary expense, I'm not sure how you value peoples time. i'm out.
  6. some 20 series had a side camera as an option, but not the full IPA (intelligent parking assist). But the parking sensors, side and front cameras would all connect to the ECU under passenger seat
  7. To be sure. Do you have front camera too? Do you have 2 parking sensors on the 'sides' of the front bumper? on the left of sterring wheel, next to the power door on/off button is the IPA button, as seen in this video:
  8. Put a letter W after the anh20
  9. Hi, I've probably seen you on Facebook, and via messenger. On the 8 speaker system, there is available a cross over bypass cable, it's not compatible with the 18 speaker system. It's sole purpose is as you gather already, to send a full range signal to the speakers. This leads me to believe that similar cross overs must exist for the 18 speaker system.
  10. Private message me an email address, I'll give you a link to the pdf for wiring . You can buy wiring kits for around £100 on AliExpress for that unit, that will enable you to retain the factory cameras/reversing sensors/heater controls/amplifier and add obd/canbus data too. It's not insurmountable.
  11. Obd port is behind the bonnet and fuel cap release handles
  12. Here's an interesting article, using the original microphone instead of the crappy ones that come with aftermarket headunit https://austinnam.blogspot.com/2020/11/toyota-oem-microphone-adapter-for.html?m=1
  13. If you wanted to get rid of it, and could recover all the associated cables, I would be interested, purely for the ' OEM ' factor, Toyota have moved on to newer models now, with WiFi connectivity to your phone, with an app, their best ones have 360° recording, so you can see the entire inside and through the windows as well as the view through the windscreen
  14. In fairness, image quality of dashcams is vastly improved since the DRT-H61A days. It originally without hedge connected to the AUX screen on the headunit, and pressing the button on the right on the dashcam would allow you to see the image and browser, whilst the parking brake was on. If you still have the connector hidden behind the headunit, it's basically a RCA composite setup, so you could get it working again if you have a video input on the new headunit. You can still get the software to install on a pc, which will allow you to view the video stored on the sdcard
  15. What does it look like? Is it on this page toyota.jp/dop/navioption
  16. toyota.jp/dop/navi/manual/ Scroll down and 'see models before 2012' PDFs of the manuals for these headunit. Good luck
  17. on later models, the light sensor is a single one. On older vehicles, you had one for the auto lights, and one that detects sunlight in order to determine if the ac comes on automatically. The light sensitivity is able to be changed on 2008 onwards, but not sure if this is the same for earlier. If you google toyota auto light sensitivity you should find some youtube vids showing how to adjust. i think the sensitivity settings in the ecu is based the fact south japan is nearer equator, and therefore has a more distinct dawn/dusk transition. I wonder if northern japanese models had better sensitivity settings based on a higher latitude that would work more in line with UK climate. I can observe the lux reading with the OBD2 diagnostics, and I think i have the trigger values in a manual somewhere, so it may be possible to fool the system by adding a resistor in series with the sensor - maybe a uk toyota sensor could be swapped in. There is a manual for that alarm, its in japanese, i will see if i can find it again
  18. Sensors. One for auto lights. One for the climate control. The little triangle is a dealer option Toyota security system. Depending on the setup, you may find you have a bonnet sensor ( check if there are electrical wires on the bonnet clasp) You should have an extra horn. It should have come with an extra fob to activate/deactivate. Basic alarm system for doors. It should have flashing LEDs on it if active.
  19. Try adding a 'w' after the anh20 The Japanese models have a W, the export models have L or R for left or right hand drive
  20. With the 18 speaker system, there will be a MOST adaptor box connected to the headunit. I would be more suspicious that that has failed before the 480Watt Toyota amplifier. You have checked both amp fuses in engine bay? 18 speaker system has 2.
  21. I installed a switch inside car, so ran wire into vehicle, and tied that to the ETC unit wiring, as it is switched, fused, and conveniently placed near the switch blanks. So drl comes on with start, and goes off when ignition is off and drivers door opened ( with switch being override do I can turn them on/ off if sat in car parked up) I plan to add an additional relay connected via the lighting ' auto' Position, so that DRL is on with ignition, and automatically turns off when sidelights come on.
  22. I have these, alphard, they work absolutely fine. These generally have a control unit that regulate the flash rate. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNXLflE
  23. You mean these. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqf8Wfw
