Hook up cable
OK, good. But 2008 is a crossover year from the Generation 1 models to the Generation 2. Take a look at Jay's photo above. Does your rear quarter have that styling 'crease', or is it smother. 4 inch square, as in Jay's photo, is probably correct. They require a specific plug to fit in the socket correctly. As in the photo, they will not fully close while plugged in.

What vehicle do you have ? What year ? Alphard were not made in 1998. Have you got a 'proper' EHU connection, or a home-made type ?

Cambelt and Water Pump - struggling to find a garage willing
Hello Helen, Welcome to the Forum. Snows Torbay quoted me; £800, at a guess. 3 or 4 years ago. I am told, the garage opposite the car park for South Devon College, in Paignton, will work on Alphies.

2005 Alphard 3.0ltr Petrol Heater/AC controls Totally Dead
Fuse 14 is, as you know, for the Panel; 'switch illumination and air conditioner illumination'. Fuses, as we all know, blow for a reason. If your unit has become faulty, it may have blown the fuse again. Despite needing to be a contortionist, it may be worth checking it again. If it has blown again I suggest you now have a hard fault. Normal approach would be substitution (which can be risky even if you have a spare) or isolation. Are you sure everything else is working apart from that control panel, and what it controls ?

Hello Gary, Welcome to the Forum. Quite a reasonable cost.

2005 Alphard 3.0ltr Petrol Heater/AC controls Totally Dead
Did you disconnect that battery before starting the work ? Are there any other electrical functions that no longer operate correctly ? You may have blown a fuse, any other function issues may help identify which fuse (if any).

Original wheels in black
The offset above is correct. The wheels / tyres are one of the standard sizes. It is very important to have the minimum speed rating. There is an opinion that says campers are heavier than the standard. Some, including myself, hold the opinion that the camper is probably slightly lighter against a fully loaded eight adult seater. However, some of us do fit XL tyres for added 'safety'. XL are extra load, not extra large ! Get your tyre fitter to confirm correct fit; but he will. Do not forget to tell your insurance company if fitting non-OEM type wheel/tyre combinations. Otherwise you may find your insurance invalidate.

Original wheels in black
Try and stay with the OEM sizes for wheels and tyres; or very close. The OFFSET is very important; it is normally marked on the inside of the wheel rim. Check the OEM value. Fitting larger wheels with a smaller sidewall tyre height (55/60/65) will harden the ride somewhat. You may wish to check before doing anything with your insurer. Nice new wheels can increase premiums, and do not forget to fit a locking nut on each wheel.

First experience of an Alphard and it's not good
Hello Lewis, Welcome to the Forum. We are all so sorry to hear of your situation. Did you buy privately, or from a business ? If a business, contact them immediately. What else can you do ? So it was cranking before the ran battery down ? Was it a normal fast crank, or somewhat sluggish ? It's unlikely to help, but have you tried to use jump leads ? On many Alphies, even a low battery will prevent the van cranking. I'll see what I can do to help; but probably nothing. If you can, please send me your phone, registration and exact location by Private Message.

Oil leak from rear differential area
You could try Dyernostics in Bodmin. Further away from home, but not that much. He must be worth a phone call.

About to pull the trigger on 2005 hybrid...
I believe Mark is now based in Exeter. In my humble opinion, the best way to check mileage, in kilometres, is the Auction Sheet. If the vehicle has been clocked before then it, obviously, will not be highlighted. If CarVX, BITMA, or other reports, investigate service history then that will be even better. My experience with CarVX, as I remember, did not report on (official) Service History; but I may be wrong in that recollection.

Sat Nav stopped working
I found an article on Facebook, via a Google search, that gives lots of details; written by Darby Ward It would seem to be a system from the Philippines. It talks of the execute file. Looks like an uphill struggle to me. Don't you have a nav system on your mobile phone ?

Instrument Panel lighting.
Do your clearance Sonars still work ? I believe they may have a common fuse with the instrument lighting. Do all the warning lights come on before starting ?
