Rear Screen not working
Rojie replied to Devonia123's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Hello Georgina, Wellcome to the Forum. -
I am doing a comparison of the tailgate struts for a Gen 1 facelifted Alphie and a Gen 2 Alphie both with powered tailgates. I need the registration of a Gen 2 Alphie with a powered tailgate. If you can help me with this, please send your registration, or VIN, to me by private message. Thank you.

Aux input on headunit 2006 (56) Alphard 2.4
Rojie replied to rallychief's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Show me a photo of your head unit. Some, mine does, have a hard drive. If you play a CD it will automatically record to hard disc, if there is any room. If there is no room, check eightseater.blogspot.com; or something very similar. He explains how to delete recordings. I don't have a roof screen, so cannot help you there. So the RCA will go to the Head Unit (maybe the roof unit too). I am not overly impressed with the audio quality coming from the HDD, but it eradicate the need for 'fiddling' with loose CDs. Chris.ac knows more about wiring, imho, that anyone else on this forum (but I think he has a Gen 2). -

The yellow one is analogue video. As above, just select a button. I can't remember which, DVD probably I think the head unit is smart enough to sense the incoming analogue signal. RCA inputs are not compatible with digital signals. Don't even try your A70 in the RCA inputs, unless it outputs analogue signal levels, you could smoke your speakers. -

Hi Jeff, I have the older Gen MZ G version. In 'OEM standard trim' the ride is adjustable; but the ride height isn't ! There are very cool, I am sure the kids will be cool. Envy of all their mates ! -

Nice, but looks rather low. I hope your roads are in much better condition than they are in Blighty. Are you located in West or East Canada ? BC or NS ? -

There should be an RCA level input on the rear of the centre console. -
Underseal is often a black coating that sets. If you are sure the o/s door is electrically operated than you are obviously facing a repair cost. The doors are heavy, opening and closing them can be a challenge on sloping ground. There is a lot of comment on this Forum regarding the sliding doors, binding, non-functional etc. Lots of reading for you to do ! Do make sure yours is an electrically operated one. How ? If it is there will be an open close button on the dash. If no switch then no assist is available. Do your homework as these problems can be costly. I believe the Alphard Club recently posted a video that may prove helpful too. What else ? Check the MOT history on the DVLA website which can, sometimes, give an indication of the care, or otherwise, the vehicle has experienced. Finally, with most private purchases, what you see is what you get; recovering repair costs is usually very difficult. Good Luck.

Hello Razvan, Welcome to the Forum. Are you buying privately, or from a business ? A key question. From a business you will be protected by Consumer Legislation and should have a warranty; privately, you will not. Your question 1 is confusing. If the door opens and closes automatically, why close it manually ? Did you mean the door should close automatically but doesn't ? If buying from a business get them to repair it . qed. If privately, it may be a cable or motor repair, or both. Important, are you sure the offside is/was automatic; not all Alphards have the motorised offside sliding door option (but if it opens electrically you must have). My guess ? The opening cable is OK, the closing cable isn't. Does the door soft close properly ? The photo 2 is not clear enough for me to answer; and I have the alternate engine; but it is open to all the elements. Is the vehicle undersealed; I would be far more concerned about that if it isn't

Automatic side door wire replacement
Rojie replied to vitor's topic in Toyota Alphard Technical Guides
Hello Vicki, Welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, this one of the more common issues with the Marque. Consequently, it has received a lot of coverage in this forum. Use the search box, top rhs of your home page, try side door (repair) or similar. Picasso will be able to get the part number for you, just send him you registration or VIN by private message. -
I think your premium is very reasonable, mine is a little more.

Hello Jacqui, I arranged mine through Scenic; part of LV I believe. I had the misfortune to have my front screen cracked by a truck hauling road gravel at the major A303 roadworks. Scenic were very good indeed, no quibble, they arranged everything with Autoglass. A three week delay due to ordering the screen. Fitted at my home in no time. They do require a Gas Safety Certificate (not a legal requirement for a camper conversion; but is for Caravan or Motorhome) if you carry gas bottles. Cost ? £60, and worth every penny for the reassurance that the Gas Fitter certainly knew what he was doing ! Good Luck.

wing mirror glass - just in case it helps anyone!
Rojie replied to pipsyp's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Thanks Lee, Confession time ! I have a rear conversion so the tailgate curtains are always closed (even when driving) just to thwart the peekers ! I doubt I have ever turned on the rear screen heater ! But, I will this coming winter. -

Hello Paul, Thank you for the tips. It is not just the "prices of things"; I am very much the "if it isn't broken, leave it alone" type. It is only when I think about these things I realise what toys I have ! I have electrically adjustable mirrors with fold (which I don't use), turn signal repeaters in both wing mirrors; lane assist sensors and a puddle lights, so there will be plenty of wiring in those pods ! Many years ago I learned to kerb my inquisitiveness, I played with the gearbox on my only car; disaster ensued. What a silly boy I was. What did I learn ? It is normally easier to dismantle than re assemble. One of my life's costly and harsh lessons during my youthful years. -

I have power seats and heated seats (very comfy) FL MZ G Edition, but I don't believe I have the heated mirrors. I am not aware of any switching for the heated mirrors, but maybe that function is automatic; I don't have the Cold Climate option either. The mirrors do seem to be self cleaning which would suggest the hydrophobic coating. I feel sure this is covered in the JPNZ Owners Manual. I need to read it again. To be honest, my van seems to have virtually all the OEM bells and whistled and, I confess, I don't play with any of them. I also was lucky to get quite a few non-OEM toys; particularly useful is a extra centre console between the front seats; all in matching 'wood' trim. It is extremely useful for DVDs and CDs, yes I am that old, but does prevent easy access to the rear conversion from the front seats without leaving the van which would be rather useful in the rain. Most new owners discover many features that they were unaware they had ! What fun. -
No Drive - Urgent Help Please
Rojie replied to DH.'s topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Hello David, Welcome to the Forum. So sorry to learn of your plight. After only eight weeks of ownership, and buying from a garage, you will have Consumer Rights. What warranty do you have ? Even the shortest warranty should be 90 days; more than 8 weeks. I would be speaking with Trading Standard, Citizens Advice, and maybe a Solicitor, before speaking with the Garage again. They may take responsibility, they may not; you will need to give them an opportunity to rectify the issue before taking further action. Sending you a re-conditioned torque convertor is, imho, pathetic. Was the warranty parts only ? Please send me a Personal Message and let me know the 'garage' you bought from. At this stage, better not to name (and shame) them in this public forum.- 1 reply

Insurance Companies for Your Toyota Alphard
Rojie replied to Alphard Club's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
You can always cancel, but I wouldn't, and there will be a cancellation charge. I would consider downgrading the insurance on the vehicle you are not using, or have your wife / girlfriend insure one while you insure the other. Two drivers on each policy. You will need to co-ordinate your road tax very carefully.
