E10 Fuel compatibility.
Rojie replied to pasty_and_a_pint's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Interesting. BUT The Alphard V6 1MZ FE engine uses multipoint fuel injection, not direct injection ! -
It has just occurred to me that the VTR may be an output for the middle seat passengers, not an input !

Have you tried Toyota Direct ?

Japan quit Analogue TV slightly before the UK. (2011) Are you sure Naeem showed you English TV on your van; and not another van you considered. I ask because my reading on the DVB situation in Japan and the UK is getting VERY deep and VERY heavy ! It seems that Japan (ISDB) and the UK (DVB T2) use different systems (oh what a surprise). However, I have not established whether they are incompatible or not. Less than £100 for a DVB T2 tuner is looking more a 'bargain' the more I read. I do hope you discover your HDD unit is capable of providing UK Digital TV.
-
So, where do we go from here? I thought I'd do some research on this problem we both face, and, The key question seems to be Is the TV system in the early Alphards (until 2008) Analogue ? If it is we are in trouble ! The UK does not transmit any Analogue TV any more as it was switched off no later than October 2012 ! My guess is that the Alphard system is Analogue but I hope to discover I'm wrong. More reading needed ! I ; I'll try and discover when Japan went digital. Questions ? Will the head unit receive digital signals ? If so, are the UK frequencies covered ? Looks to me as though the DVB T2 route will be the cheapest / quickest route IF IT WORKS .

I managed to get the head unit to display the TV. I have no idea how !! Good news is there is capacity for 62 channels. Bad news is I have not yet discovered how to the tune in any yet ! I need to test that VTR input !!

Looking for the runner clips for the seats.
Rojie replied to MonsterS's topic in Toyota Alphard Used Parts & Accessories
Grey ? OK. How many ? Just the screws or the rail end caps too ? I'll be speaking with my (potential) source on Tuesday Did you try Toyota Direct ? Do you have the parts numbers from the epc ? I can't find them ! -
I have only managed to get one UK radio station, and that is quite weak; but then I live in the 'sticks'. I don't have a frequency expander. I have not researched it yet, but the DVB TV tuner may bring me loads of radio stations. Like you, apart from the forced learning of Japanese, I am finding the 'voyage of discovery' very enjoyable. I am trying to discover whether I have radar or not. I have two sets of 'lights' in the lower front spoiler either side of the number plate. They are probably just running lights. I do not have the speedo bezel that goes with the radar, but then my speedo bezel has been changed to mph. My rear conversion will be done by a specialist. I have been waiting weeks for the special order maple veneered panels. Unfortunately, something went wrong and the wrong panels were ordered so I had to wait twice the normal leadtime. They were due yesterday. Birch ply is becoming quite difficult to obtain especially because of the recent upsurge in Alphard sales and further imports. Am looking forward to your video. Thanks.

Hi, I think I figured out what you need. What colour are you hoping for ? How many do you need. If I can get these, it is unlikely to be immediately, do you want me to continue trying to get you some ? -
Well done you for getting the TV to turn on. After reading the manuals, yet again, my guess is your next step is to tune the set into the UK channels. You can certainly add photos, as I did when you requested shots of my 'woodwork'. Add them as attachments, drag and drop as it says below your messages. I THINK I have also seen movies on here. (maybe not as I watch youtube a lot !) My guess is to drag and drop the movie file just as though it was a photo. It seems you are making great progress. As I mentioned, if I cannot get the TV working I hope to input RCA data from an Xtron DVB tuner through the VTR RCA terminals. I was going to get a Freeview HD, but that is being phased out; although the DVB T2 tuners are much better (I have read). I let you know when, and if, I get there. My conversion is due to start so pennies are scarce

Thanks for the floormat info. Much appreciated. Please let me, and all Alphardies, know how to turn the TV on. I was using Google Lens last night but didn't find the answer yet !
-
Difficult to argue with this ! I need to reread all that NREL info I published before as one of the engines tested was the 1MZ FE engine with no degradation at all.

Hi, Do you have a photo to help me understand what you are looking for ? I may know someone who has some or can get some. -
I have not got around to trying the VTR terminals. I am assuming if I feed RCA signals in there, they will appear on the HDD screen. That's how I was going to attach the Xtron TV tuner, but would input some other RCA signals just to test the connection. Voyage of discovery. Pop round to Naeem, I am sure he won't mind. I would if I was as close as you are.
-
Did Naeem demo the TV through a phone app ? Or was it showing regular English TV ? Do you have the HDD manuals? I have two. Page 284 in the thicker HDD manual seems to be where the TV section begins (in Japanese). My English language handbook do not even cover the HDD, let alone the Theatre system. Maybe you need to call, or visit Naeem, as you aren't a million miles away ! Although I don't have the Theatre system you have raised my curiousity regarding the TV. Perhaps I can get mine to work. If not, I expect to buy an Xtron tuner and wire that in . Good luck, and please let me know how you get it switched on.
-
Hi again, I don't have the theatre system, so am not sure your system even has TV. If it has, it will be optimised for Japan! I'll check my manuals. My DVD works fine, but is fiddly with all the Japanese stuff to wade through for track selection, etc. I would expect your DVD to play to the TV screen whilst the vehicle is stationary. I also assume the rear TV should work when on the move.... More reading required.

Changing the belts on a 3L petrol Alphard
Rojie replied to eric140253's topic in Recommend a Dealer / Garage / Importer
Try your nearest Toyota dealer; if you haven't already. Mine was happy to change my cambelt and water pump; which, I'm sure, would involve taking the belts off. If you need to get the belts yourself try Toyota Direct, although they will probably require you to provide the exact part number. Try Toyota Alphard EPC to get the part number. Good Luck -

2002 Alphard 3.0 MZ-G - Electronic Key Fob Sourcing
Rojie replied to GB57's topic in Toyota Alphard Technical Guides
Afterthought. Sorry, just to clarify this. My Alphard is 2006, and I bought a key that suits that year. I assume the ebay guy does those too, but my info about the 4D7 code may be incorrect for the year 2002. I suggest you check carefully. -
2002 Alphard 3.0 MZ-G - Electronic Key Fob Sourcing
Rojie replied to GB57's topic in Toyota Alphard Technical Guides
Try motor.hongda2 on ebay. Key chip code is 4D67. This is the chip with the correct frequency. If it isn't 4D67 don't buy it. I took the risk of buying one. I was going to try to program it myself but decided it was too risky as any damage caused to the car would be very expensive to fix. Nor did I want to risk my immobiliser working and shutting the car down !!!! My Master key had no remote electronics within it. Key worked fine, but no remote opening of my electric slide doors. The immobiliser chip is within the casing of the key; not in the electronics, so be careful you don't throw away your master I tried several places, including my local Toyota dealer, who all declined the job. Toyota dealers are not allowed to program for grey imports, and, although, Timpson et al say they can do it; they wouldn't touch my self sourced key. They gave me a price to supply a key from Japan and program it. I decided I didn't need another mortgage. I found a local company to me, a proper professional auto locksmith, which came to my home. Unfortunately, for others, the company is not a national franchised outfit So far it works fine, and I will be buying another. About £17 pounds for the key. £85 to program it. This included cloning my old key into the new key; so my new key is a master key now. So, get a key and persevere until you find a auto locksmith that will program it for your successfully. Good Luck -
I haven't used him, or anyone else for that matter. I think he was mentioned on this site. I was interested because, apparently, he can retain the Japanese HDD unit without losing the 4 way camera function. Unfortunately, I am too far away to visit him. It is claimed everything works as normal. Check him out on ebay. New head units are available much cheaper (Xtrons) as he charges £400 (including Sat Nav (which may be via your phone)). I don't use Apple, and will probably buy a Garmin. Got your wheels yet ?
