Refuel at 200km
Computer guesstimates are based on previous use and driving style. Change either and it will throw the calculation out. To clarify what Neville (I think) means. Fill to brim, Note mileage, Run, the further the better, but you do not need to run the tank way down, Fill to brim, Note mileage. Calculate. Distance driven divided by fuel used (amount that was used to refill). Use your normal driving style and normal routes and normal loading. If you can, reset the fuel history before you start the test.

If this vehicle is a recent purchase from a business, you certainly should return to the seller for further 'discussions' If bought from a business you will have protection under Consumer Lawand should have a warranty of some sort.

Aux input on headunit 2006 (56) Alphard 2.4
OK, so I'm guessing. It is a mini disc, probably a secondary unit for the roof screen (which I don't have) so cannot confirm ! Or just a more hi-fi unit than the OEM one. Yes the brightness can be changed from the head unit, but I cannot remember how ! I'll try and play tomorrow. Eightseater.blog.com is good on the head unit It does not brighten much, contrast too, along with various spatial faders. Many members replace the head units, personal preference, many, many more functions. The replacement screens are usually much brighter, but some installations will loose camera or steering wheel controls. I find the OEM unit more than satisfactory. I have a conversion so sound is a little muffled from the rear speakers anyway. There is a premium 12 speaker system (which I don't have) that is reported to be very good. I have a lot of DVDs (which you cannot watch on the move as there is a lookout system (which can be overridden)) and CDs. How do I get Hi-Fi ? When parked, I use a high end HD PC with high quality Bose Bluetooth speakers running from a leisure battery, or the EHU. The real bonus is the sound is Private and my dog doesn't sing along ! I considered making a hood type visor from Plasticard, which would be very easy, but never did (yet). I'll have a play tomorrow and, hopefully give you a button sequence if I can. The JPNZ Owners Manual is very good, but does not cover the HDD head units, (eightseater does it that very well). Forgot. the CD slot plays DVDs. I was most surprised it plays my Region 2 PAL discs when I tried it.

Brakes on a Campervan Conversion
If the MOT is recent that should good enough. You could take your van to an MOT garage and have them test them without performing an MOT. Have you checked the brake fluid level reservoir. ? Perhaps your brakes need new fluid and a bleed. If your brakes are 'bad' I think it is your van and not the Toyota design. Oh, and reduce your roundabout approach speed.

auto transmission Alphard 3.0ltr 1mz-fe
Hi Larry, That's because, imho, the manual you are referring to is probably the JPNZ Owners Manual, or one of the Toyota Handbooks that come with the vehicle, that some of us have. I would expect that the operation is classed as a Service item and will be in the Service/Maintenance Manual that none of us can get a copy of. Often known herein as the Holy Grail.

AH20 Alphard/Vellfire rear door struts.
Hello John, Thank you for this. I appreciate it. They look just like mine; and my machine is a Gen 1 facelift. I bought some struts previously, but they did not fit. I have been on Ali Ex and the ones for the facelift do not seem to come with brackets, which is OK. I'll check my the measurements against those you have supplied, thanks again. I am also working with Lee to establish whether Gen 1 and Gen are the same. I do know from the epc that there are different variants.

Aux input on headunit 2006 (56) Alphard 2.4
Could be a mini disc player, but that head unit (same as mine) has a mini disc player. Could be a lot of things. Japanese owners are renowned for adding all sorts of gizmos. Could be a toll card reader, although the Alphie also has one of those as standard rhs in lower dash. I am intrigued what 'box' you will have. You can buy a FM band expander for a few pounds; although reports on their effectiveness are mixed.

Looking to buy Toyota Alphard hyrbid camper
Hello Ian, Welcome to the Forum. Please add your personal information to your profile. It is difficult for members to advise where to 'shop' if they don't know where you are located ! At this time of year all the convertors will be extremely busy. If they aren't, I would be very careful. Lead-times, at a guess, will be at least 8 weeks, possibly as many as 12. Are you looking to buy a van and then have it converted by the vendor ? Or looking to buy a van and looking for an independent convertor ? Or looking for a van already converted ?

Powered Tailgate Struts, Gen 1 vs Gen 2
I am doing a comparison of the tailgate struts for a Gen 1 facelifted Alphie and a Gen 2 Alphie both with powered tailgates. I need the registration of a Gen 2 Alphie with a powered tailgate. If you can help me with this, please send your registration, or VIN, to me by private message. Thank you.

Aux input on headunit 2006 (56) Alphard 2.4
Show me a photo of your head unit. Some, mine does, have a hard drive. If you play a CD it will automatically record to hard disc, if there is any room. If there is no room, check eightseater.blogspot.com; or something very similar. He explains how to delete recordings. I don't have a roof screen, so cannot help you there. So the RCA will go to the Head Unit (maybe the roof unit too). I am not overly impressed with the audio quality coming from the HDD, but it eradicate the need for 'fiddling' with loose CDs. Chris.ac knows more about wiring, imho, that anyone else on this forum (but I think he has a Gen 2).

AH20 Alphard/Vellfire rear door struts.
I found some on Ali Ex, supposedly, suitable for my power tailgate. £35 shipping; almost as much as John paid for the delivered item. More searching needed ! If they fit and work, a real bargain as Toyota wanted £200 each !

Aux input on headunit 2006 (56) Alphard 2.4
The yellow one is analogue video. As above, just select a button. I can't remember which, DVD probably I think the head unit is smart enough to sense the incoming analogue signal. RCA inputs are not compatible with digital signals. Don't even try your A70 in the RCA inputs, unless it outputs analogue signal levels, you could smoke your speakers.

New member - Vellfire 3.5z G-edition
Hi Jeff, I have the older Gen MZ G version. In 'OEM standard trim' the ride is adjustable; but the ride height isn't ! There are very cool, I am sure the kids will be cool. Envy of all their mates !

Nice, but looks rather low. I hope your roads are in much better condition than they are in Blighty. Are you located in West or East Canada ? BC or NS ?

There should be an RCA level input on the rear of the centre console.

Soon to be owner, can you please help with some issues?
Underseal is often a black coating that sets. If you are sure the o/s door is electrically operated than you are obviously facing a repair cost. The doors are heavy, opening and closing them can be a challenge on sloping ground. There is a lot of comment on this Forum regarding the sliding doors, binding, non-functional etc. Lots of reading for you to do ! Do make sure yours is an electrically operated one. How ? If it is there will be an open close button on the dash. If no switch then no assist is available. Do your homework as these problems can be costly. I believe the Alphard Club recently posted a video that may prove helpful too. What else ? Check the MOT history on the DVLA website which can, sometimes, give an indication of the care, or otherwise, the vehicle has experienced. Finally, with most private purchases, what you see is what you get; recovering repair costs is usually very difficult. Good Luck.

Hello Razvan, Welcome to the Forum. Are you buying privately, or from a business ? A key question. From a business you will be protected by Consumer Legislation and should have a warranty; privately, you will not. Your question 1 is confusing. If the door opens and closes automatically, why close it manually ? Did you mean the door should close automatically but doesn't ? If buying from a business get them to repair it . qed. If privately, it may be a cable or motor repair, or both. Important, are you sure the offside is/was automatic; not all Alphards have the motorised offside sliding door option (but if it opens electrically you must have). My guess ? The opening cable is OK, the closing cable isn't. Does the door soft close properly ? The photo 2 is not clear enough for me to answer; and I have the alternate engine; but it is open to all the elements. Is the vehicle undersealed; I would be far more concerned about that if it isn't
