Headlight lens covers
I have used Turtle Wax compound (not sure if it was heavy duty) on another vehicle and was very happy with the results.

Locking All Doors At Night Without Setting Alarm
I don't have the same problem. I don't lock our doors. I do have another problem though. At 3am all you can see of my black dog is a large number of glistening sharp white teeth ! Fortunately, his bark is worse than his bite. I have yet to receive many complaints regarding how loud I get whilst trying to quieten HIM !

Boot and internal light issues!
Hello Tim, Welcome to the Forum. Are you a new owner ? Did the tailgate used to open OK ? Do you have smart locking? Presumably with a fob Do you have an electric tailgate ? Does tailgate open and close with the dash switches ? Has the tailgate been disabled from the dash? Tailgate may not open if starter battery is partially discharged. Renew the fob battery. Need to press for a second or more; it's not instantaneous. Which interior lights are you referring to ? The lights by the rear view mirror; or the room/mood lights ? The lights above the side doors ? The room lights are controlled by a switch. The lights above the doors have a switch above the doors. Cuttothechase has a video on Youtube of how to open the tailgate

Failed mot on emissions
As you probably know, you have 10 days to get it retested at the same facility for free. As you don't have the test report; you could do worse than to rebook it, without touching anything, and get the emission test results. Even ask them for an opinion on the cause. Lee' suggestion is also a potential quick fix, but whatever you do you won't know it's effective until the retest !

£8750 66k Petrol Hybrid Camper Scotland Central Belt
Hello Craig, Please clarify. The mileage on Facebook is 66,000 kms, whereas DVLA has it recorded as 66,000 miles. Which is it please? Interested parties should note that the MOT is due within two months.

I was teasing you. I am not aware of any comprehensive Maintenance Manual for the Gen 1 vehicles; or indeed later models.

Vellfire advise
Thank you for the clarity. I was aware of the 10 year situation, but not the term IVA in this context. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Electric Steering Damper Replacement
Please advise me where I can purchase a Haynes for my Alphie ! I do admire your achievement, but not for me, far too risky when looking through my eyes and using my fingers.

Electric Steering Damper Replacement
Does that include replacing all that 'gubbins' ? It looks a huge job to me. I think you are very competent, or brave, or both !

Alphard gets rattly at 80mph
I omitted to say the wheels may need balancing. Oopps. Full wheel alignment data is available in this Forum. I think the rear geometry is fixed (notwithstanding excessive wear) but perhaps not for your hybrid. Search Picasso, I think Lee was the last person to publish the data. Check out the technical section too, it is here somewhere !

Is Toyota Alphard hybrid unreliable before 2008?
Hello Ivan, Welcome to the Forum. Replacement batteries, should you need them, can cost up to several thousand pounds. There does seem to be a scarcity of capable mechanics who can (or will) work on them successfully. Repair can be much cheaper, but then you need the hybrid technicians, as above. In my opinion, in the more remote parts of Scotland it will be very difficult; if not impossible. Nearer the urban centres could still present some challenges. Personally, with your intended journeys I would avoid a Generation 1 Hybrid. I am sure you will get several other replies from other members.

Is Toyota Alphard hybrid unreliable before 2008?
Hello Ivan, Будь ласка, спробуйте надалі писати англійською мовою, багато хто з наших учасників не обов’язково знатимуть, як перекладати вашу тему. Please try and write in English in future, many of our members will not, necessarily, know how to translate your thread. Hello, dear forum members. I am going to become the owner of a Toyota Alphard hybrid. I wanted to buy a hybrid, before 2008. To save on fuel. I intend to travel to Scotland often. But I read the forum, I realized that you can buy the car and get a spare which costs £5200, or just stay somewhere in Scotland where no one can help me fix the car. And this prospect does not please me. Tell me, please, should I buy a Hybrid?

Loud rattle and vibration
Take it back again. Hopefully you will receive suggestions on what the problem is to improve your chances of getting it fixed by the seller. If the seller is a business you will have Consumer Rights.
