NEW OWNER CAMPER CONVERTED VELLFIRE
Rojie replied to RON HOWIE's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Hi Ron, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Vellfire ownership too. -
Rear sliding doors stop half way. How to reset
Rojie replied to Ecoglo's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Yes. Just checked. Both my electric side doors stop short of fully open when the windows are open. This is as it should be. My tailgate does not stop opening, or closing, whether the side windows/doors combination is open. Does your tail gate operate perfectly when the side doors and windows are closed ? -

Hhmm, I don't think so. I'll try it on mine and let you all know. -
2010 Vellfire Radio
Rojie replied to Matt132's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
I agree with both Rob and Lisa. There are many other ways to provide 'entertainment' without replacing the head unit. I am connected to the OEM Bluetooth for phone, which I never use. The CD and DVD player both work fine, although resolution could be better. The CDs are recorded to HDD, which is very useful. Without fitting an override, DVDs cannot be watched on the move; listening is OK, so I have a PC running off my leisure battery. The PC could run HD TV too, if I needed it to. Sat Nav ? My wife's department; hand held mobile works great. -
The OEM camera set up is adjusted through the OEM head unit. So you may have lost some functionality with your upgrade. It is not unusual for upgrades to effect the functionality, especially the steering wheel controls. I find the lines very helpful, but guess I could do without them if I needed to. It appears you may need to return the vehicle to the the person who fitted the Kenwood and have them set it up for you.

Hello Daniel, FORGET IT. Please read the Forum before you make any changes. You have a facelifted Gen 1. One of the photos is a Gen 1. The other is Gen 2. Many members who own lowered Alphies complain of 'grounding' issues and harshness of the ride. Lowering can be achieved with wheel/tyre change combinations and/or suspension modifications. My guess is, the above vehicles features both. Changing your mind after each course of action is likely to cost you dearly; certainly over a thousand for each approach. The first pot-hole or 'sleeping policemen' you encounter will demonstrate my point. Whatever you decide. GOOD LUCK. Please read what Forum members have to say before parting with your cash.

This is an odd point. I agree that open windows will prevent (electronically) the door opening fully. But I haven't come across the boot open issue before. So I am assuming electric side doors (both ?), is your tail gate electrically assisted also ? -
engine warning light.

I would agree. E5 or E10 should not make much difference. A fuelling problem, but unlikely to be the fuel itself. There is a lengthy thread on the forum; mainly discussing fuel economy and another on effects on engine longevity of the two fuels. -
Hello Darren, Welcome to the Forum. I have a 2006 MZ G Edition, top of the line, with most of the gizmos. I need to discover whether my machine has this option; I don't think it has. Owning an Alphard is such a voyage of discovery ! I have the feature on another car of mine, and find it immensely useful for reversing alongside curbs. In my Alphie I use the reversing camera, which, imho, is even more useful. Do you have a rear camera fitted, with all the coloured boxes ? I'll check my JPNZ Owners Manual to see if this mirror feature is mentioned.

Hello Ben, I admire your courage. You are certainly the first person I have encountered trying to fit this modification. Good Luck, and keep us all posted on your progress. (Don't forget to inform your insurance company).

Can we see some photos please. It IS quite acceptable to recommend the brand if you have no connection with the suppling company.

Prospective new members needing some advice
Rojie replied to MereDetails81's topic in Alphard Club Members Introductions
Hello Kevin, Welcome to the Forum. -
I could find the code for you; but it won't do any good. The match was to my leather only; they all discolour (very slightly) differently with age. They won't sell you 'my' colour, as there is a good chance it won't match yours; and I paid the matching fee. The matching fee, about 30 quid is well worth it, imho, if I remember correctly. Repair Paint was the product, but I also bought cleaners and stain removers. Not cheap, but made by a company that does specialise in leather care.

I went to Furniture Clinic. I sent a head rest as the colour sample and was very pleased with their colour matching. So, I now have my unique, personalised, leather colour code ! They also offer all sorts of other leather care products too.

Hello Josh, Welcome to the Forum. -
Hello Tony, Does it matter ? Surely you will take your Alphie to an experienced air conditioning recharger; it is not a job for DIY. Most cars have air con nowadays; it should not be difficult to get the job done properly.

There are some very good examples out there. But, imho, as the marque has become more popular they may be an increasing number of 'less than perfect' vehicles. I always recommend dealing with an established Alphard retailer, with their own servicing facilities on site. There are much fewer of this type of reseller. There are many outlets that are metal box shifters, i.e. perhaps a 'stereotype second hand care salesperson'. I have sent you a PM.

Insurance Companies for Your Toyota Alphard
Rojie replied to Alphard Club's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
No it isn't ! 400 is much nearer the mark, maybe a little more as the vehicle is relatively young. It depends, of course, on your driving history, claims history, and where the vehicle is parked. There is a list in this thread. On line quotes often do not work for an Alphard; so much more phoning to do. Good Luck -
Hello Greg, So sorry to hear of all the hassle you have had with this Alphard. Perhaps you could consider a newer model if you come to miss this one too much. Whatever, best of Good Luck to you, it seems you could do with some.

LW55CFL. I just checked TfL again ! Today it's COMPLIANT !
-
Hi Michael, I withdraw my request as, whatever your response, it would not be relevant for consideration after all this time ! Hopefully, whoever was 'adjusting' the odometers went out of business years ago.

Would you care to send me a Private Message with where the vehicle was purchased, please ?
