  1. Yes it is important to locate a good supplier; preferably one with on site facilities for maintenance and repairs. If you study this Forum you will notice that some owners find it very difficult to identify mechanics that are willing, and able, to work on Hybrids.
  2. Topsham Car Sales may have changed their sales location, but certainly used to have (and may still have) a Sales Office at Topsham. As Angela says, opposite Dart's Farm. I would be certainly surprised if Joseph is no longer there.
  3. Lucky passengers. Not many have a free bar
  4. Hi Alan, Somewhere on this Forum is the full nine yards on geometry. Try searching to toe In or toe out. It may be difficult to locate, but will be worth it.
  5. Very nice, and rare too. Do you have children ?
  6. Hi Tom, It is NOT a 2023, as advertised. So why say so ! Starting off with such an untruth throws the integrity of the seller out the window for me. It is a 2005. I quit reading at that point. Imported this year probably, but not the same thing at all. 85K, if that is the true mileage, is not low. Do you have a copy of the Auction Certificate when the vehicle was exported? Clocking is rare in Japan, but can be achieved on importation by converting the speedo chip to MPH. The Auction certificate will declare the KM ay auction, i.e export from Japan. The second vehicle is ULEZ compliant. You can check yourself om the TfL website. Whatever vehicle you buy, having a reliable servicing company is important, especially with a Hybrid. Good Luck.
  7. Well Done Joseph at Topsham. Hopefully you have not damaged the head gasket. Look out for mayonaise in the oil filter cap and water from the exhaust pipe. Keep a close eye on the water level, and ensure you maintain the correct concentration of anti freeze. A good result.
  8. Hello Keith, You should NOT tow any automatic. The driven wheels must be free of the ground.
  9. My wipers are fine now. Autoglass guarantee their work, so it is reassuring they will fix your leak for free.
  10. Is the sound coming from the front or back ? Have you had the vehicle long ? If the back, I would be looking at loose bushing around subframe and suspension parts
  11. It is quite normal for the front valance to be lower than the rear valance. Private or Business seller ?
  12. And are the wheels and tyres standard sizes. IMHO, only an opinion, I would not have thought 1 cm would not make much difference. These machines do have a soft ride so it can be difficult to assess whether the springs are worn. You don't say whether the conversion is side or rear ?
  13. Was it a private purchase ?
  14. Hello Mark, Welcome to the Forum. Private Sale or Business Seller ? Check the wheels and tyres are the correct size. Are they 16 or 17inch ? 205/65/16 or 225/55/17. Check the minimum ground clearance, 160mm. Is it a rear conversion or a side conversion ? Quality of conversion ? Gas integrity, if fitted ? Either way, IMHO, it is unlikely to be the additional weight. Most conversion involve removing the middle and rearmost seats. Many Alphies are lowered, either in Japan or the UK. Ground clearance can become an issue. Replacing suspension parts (excluding wheels and tyres) to revert to factory will cost upwards of 1200 ! AA RAC Inspection may be advisable. Mine cost 300 pounds, and was very reassuring. Other than that, all the usual precautions when buying a pre owned vehicle. Check the undersealing too. Is the speedo in miles or kilometres ? Insist on a copy of the Auction Sheet BEFORE you part with any cash. Good Luck.
  15. Is this an after market item ? Are you certain it ever worked properly ?
  16. Hello John, Welcome to the Forum. There are hundreds of tips on this site. Happy Reading. Happy Camparding.
  17. Hello Richard, Welcome to the Forum.
  18. They appear well worn to me, so would say abused !
  19. The colder the temperatures get, the shorter it will last. Bear in mind, that allowing a battery to discharge to 50%, or less, is not advisable. I have my spare battery on constant trickle charge with a smart charger and it is therefore always available, albeit at home, so it remains 'available' at all times. I have hefty jump leads in the van. I did consider one of those instant starter battery packs, but never got around to buying one. It is essential for all members to maintain their starter battery in good condition and fully charged throughout the winter months. Of course, if you use a spare battery, you should ensure you recharge it fully asap. I have also noticed that if I do not maintain my spare battery on trickle charge it can take days to reach full charge in cold weather.
  20. Welcome to the Forum. Welcome, almost, to Alphard ownership.
  21. This rnovie does not run on my PC. I can only agree that binding brakes cannot help your situation.
  22. Hello John, Welcome to the Forum. Have you checked to ensure the correct 'wattage' fitted ?
  23. I haven't either. I had assumed it was/is a Japanese conversion.
