  1. I went to Tanya. They did all the hard work. Perhaps my terminals are the Japanese type; I need to check, just for reference, just in case. Tanya's mail order service is first class. All I did was fit it, which was very easy. CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN to ensure no reverse polarity happens, even for a moment.
  2. Hello Mattie, Welcome to the Forum.
  3. Hello Dave, Welcome to the Forum.
  4. I agree with this info. However, you are likely to buy a battery that fits the leads you already have; unless you can't.
  5. Hello Geralt, I believe terminal size is an industry standard. But ... The terminal locations are not. It depends on the cables you have fitted. Although, of course these can be changed. There are several terminal configurations. This can be important, in some cases, VITAL. You do not want to connect the battery terminals incorrectly. Despite their different sizes, this is quite instantaneously easily done, and will blow the main 100/120 A fuse. The other consequence of selecting the incorrect terminal configuration is that the correct leads won't reach ! Battery physical size ? There are many ! I have the V6; from memory capacity is 65A/hr, CCA about 600. I find Tanya Batteries very good. Supplier, not a brand.
  6. Hhmm. My aircon works after about 2 minutes, not 20. I have other vehicles with aircon and they all start, more or less, immediately too. After nine months, without use, some of the seals may have dried out. I would hope the dealer would fix it for free, I doubt a local mechanic will; but, obviously, that's your choice. Good Luck
  7. Local mechanic and undersealing asap are both important first steps. Are you importing directly from Auction or using UK agents etc. ? First step will be getting an MOT, then having DVLA register it.
  8. Removing CDs from the HDD unit is covered by eightseaters.blog.com (or an address very similar). It certainly covers the Gen 1 units, but perhaps not the Gen2 that you have.
  9. Hello Trevor, Welcome to the Forum.
  10. I believe Lee will suggest you contact the dealer; especially since they re-gassed it (supposedly) to correct a fault. It would appear they failed, or took the cheap hopeful route to appease you. Do you have any sales literature, advert, or anything that mentions the AC as functional, or not. As a retail sale you are protected by various consumer laws. If they are forgetful of this, maybe they just need a polite persuasive reminder before you contact Trading Standards. I find Trust Pilot very useful for publishing (truthful) accounts of poor business practices and behaviours (although t5his seldom produces any 'progress'. Any decent AC place will be able to re-gas it. The better ones will also have the equipment to locate a leak (using a special dyed gas). However, a competent repair shop may be a little more difficult to locate, assuming one is needed. Some Toyota dealers, but by no means many, will work on an imported Alphard; so it is worth checking around your locale for peace of mind. Good Luck.
  11. Most 'better' ac places will pressure test the system to ensure there are no leaks before recharging it. There is no point in recharging an ac system that is known to leak. The leak should be located and repaired first. Did the dealer you bought from conduct the MOT ? A two hour run should produce an efficient ac, if all is well.
  12. I thought you were researching to buy. Have you bought already ?
  13. Unless a super duper sound system is a make or break decision for purchasing, I think you have other significant issues to decide upon first. For example, engine size, trim level, colour. You can always audition systems in your prospective purchases. You can always upgrade later, albeit probably not to the 18 speaker system
  14. I don't know whether the Generation 2 model uses Canbus for entertainment, Chris.ac will, but I do know that many upgraded head units can introduce some loss of OEM functionality.
  15. Hello Y, FYI, Your engine is not a 3.5L. The 3.5L was not introduced until the 2008, Gen 2 model. IF your engine is a 3.5L, it is an aftermarket upgrade (if a 3.5 would fit as gearbox is different too.
  16. Hi Ron, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Vellfire ownership too.
  17. Yes. Just checked. Both my electric side doors stop short of fully open when the windows are open. This is as it should be. My tailgate does not stop opening, or closing, whether the side windows/doors combination is open. Does your tail gate operate perfectly when the side doors and windows are closed ?
  18. Hhmm, I don't think so. I'll try it on mine and let you all know.
  19. I agree with both Rob and Lisa. There are many other ways to provide 'entertainment' without replacing the head unit. I am connected to the OEM Bluetooth for phone, which I never use. The CD and DVD player both work fine, although resolution could be better. The CDs are recorded to HDD, which is very useful. Without fitting an override, DVDs cannot be watched on the move; listening is OK, so I have a PC running off my leisure battery. The PC could run HD TV too, if I needed it to. Sat Nav ? My wife's department; hand held mobile works great.
  20. The OEM camera set up is adjusted through the OEM head unit. So you may have lost some functionality with your upgrade. It is not unusual for upgrades to effect the functionality, especially the steering wheel controls. I find the lines very helpful, but guess I could do without them if I needed to. It appears you may need to return the vehicle to the the person who fitted the Kenwood and have them set it up for you.
  21. Hello Daniel, FORGET IT. Please read the Forum before you make any changes. You have a facelifted Gen 1. One of the photos is a Gen 1. The other is Gen 2. Many members who own lowered Alphies complain of 'grounding' issues and harshness of the ride. Lowering can be achieved with wheel/tyre change combinations and/or suspension modifications. My guess is, the above vehicles features both. Changing your mind after each course of action is likely to cost you dearly; certainly over a thousand for each approach. The first pot-hole or 'sleeping policemen' you encounter will demonstrate my point. Whatever you decide. GOOD LUCK. Please read what Forum members have to say before parting with your cash.
  22. This is an odd point. I agree that open windows will prevent (electronically) the door opening fully. But I haven't come across the boot open issue before. So I am assuming electric side doors (both ?), is your tail gate electrically assisted also ?
  23. I would agree. E5 or E10 should not make much difference. A fuelling problem, but unlikely to be the fuel itself. There is a lengthy thread on the forum; mainly discussing fuel economy and another on effects on engine longevity of the two fuels.
  24. Hello Darren, Welcome to the Forum. I have a 2006 MZ G Edition, top of the line, with most of the gizmos. I need to discover whether my machine has this option; I don't think it has. Owning an Alphard is such a voyage of discovery ! I have the feature on another car of mine, and find it immensely useful for reversing alongside curbs. In my Alphie I use the reversing camera, which, imho, is even more useful. Do you have a rear camera fitted, with all the coloured boxes ? I'll check my JPNZ Owners Manual to see if this mirror feature is mentioned.
