  1. Hello Sylvia, There already is a thread on this forum on this topic. It's certainly worth a read; although it does contain conflicting opinions ! I guess the only way to be sure is to ask your insurance companies; (or a few others that you are not with first !)
  2. Great news on the MOT.
  3. I have an earlier model. On my model (a 7 seater) the rear seats and the middle seats use the same runners. Does yours use the same runners ?
  4. You say windows. Do you mean both nearside widows, or just the front passenger window ? The front passenger window is reset from the passenger door; not the drivers door switch cluster.
  5. I agree with Charlie. There are situations where 'penny pinching' is low risk. Fluids in a vehicle, ihmo, is not one of them. According to the JPNZ manual "5 to 20w should give better mileage". (In the Japanese climate).
  6. Recommendations are OK (provided you have no personal or financial interest in the business or company). But no outright advertising, billboards, photos of premises, etc. That is what the Club is all about really.
  7. The rear seats are not, imho, designed for long distance; but a smaller child should be OK. Maybe you should be thinking of an 8 seater, if one is available. But I don't think they are for the Gen 2 vehicles.
  8. Hello Peter, Welcome to the Forum. I have an earlier model, but I think your family will find the all seats and facilities quite marvellous.
  9. Make sure you have your room / mood lights off. Just be aware that there will be residual current drain even with the ignition off. Check the condition of your battery terminals, and battery connections. All owners need to ensure their batteries are, and remain, fully charged. Don't just assume they are.
  10. Hello Martin, I am NOT a mechanic; I would be concerned. The real issue is where the filings came from ? I assume you know they didn't come from your engine. Probably needs a really good flush, possibly more than once. Hopefully a more knowledgeable member will offer better advice.
  11. There are many Convertors, and many versions of a conversions, and many different utility configurations. I have not, yet, come across an Alphie with an underfloor waste storage tank, complete with remote lever for emptying. However..... (there must be at least one out there). With a side conversion, open the offside sliding middle door and I would expect it to be there, possibly behind some movable or hinging panel. Good Luck, and hey presto !
  12. Hello Suzanna, So sorry to hear about the problems you have been having. How long have you owned it ? Did you buy it Privately or through the Trade ? To sell through the Forum, you must include all the information specified in that Section. Please read the conditions and add the necessary information. You need Mileage and Price, and other details. I understand naming a price is a real issue for you. I have decided to allow this topic for a short period in order for you to receive suggestions on what the knocking sound could be. Initially, I'll allow a week, then review the situation. In the meantime, I'll send you a Private Message.
  13. Hello Wendy Welcome to the Forum. Do you have a rear conversion or a side conversion ? Either way, most tanks are close to the drain hole in the sink. Try and follow the pipework from underneath the sink. Probably you will find a plastic tank which you will need to remove, empty, and secure back in position. Good Luck
  14. Hello Jill, Welcome to the Forum. Thank you for sharing your solution.
  15. Does the starter try to turn the engine over, or just nothing ?
  16. Sorry to hear about your mishap. I think you will find the paint code is 042. Whatever, the paint code will be on the vin plate on the lower B pillar, passenger side. Hopefully you can open the door to locate it.
  17. I was wrong ! I believed some video I had watched; or my memory is giving out ! Oil filter is on front of engine; under the exhaust manifold.
  18. Hello Julian, Welcome to the Forum. Good to hear you are very pleased with your purchase from an Alphard Club member. Happy Alpharding
  19. Are you anywhere near Ashwater ? Starider is there and may be able to help you. He is ex auto trade. I believe the oil filter is 'behind' the engine nearest the firewall; not the easiest to get too. Many other members do self servicing, so I am sure you will plenty of advice.
  20. Hello Owen, Welcome to the Forum.
  21. Hello Richard, Welcome to the Forum.
  22. Did you check the Insurance thread on this Forum ? Adrian Flux are not normally the most reasonably priced insurance brokers.
  23. Geralt is correct. For the benefit of V6 owners; it it only the 3 litre V6 that has a belt (not the 3.5). However, the engine is a non interference design . So what ? If the belt breaks on a non interference engine the valves will not hit the pistons and wreck the engine. You will break down, and you will need a new belt and need to get it fitted and timed correctly. The above is not true if the engine 'drops' a valve. Either way, if you have a V6 get the cam belt changed, if needed, or risk a stranding.
  24. Hello Fred, Welcome to the Forum
