alphard smelling old
You should get a humidity meter. They are very cheap. Hot/warm air will hold more moisture than colder air; so as your heater warms the van the warmer air will draw moisture into the air; probably from the carpets. However, as the van cools down that warm moist air will condense on any cold glass; a condition you are not experiencing. Perhaps it is your AC. I have several cars with AC and none have caused a smell. When you run the AC do you get a small dribble of water under the van, you should, otherwise the drain may be blocked.

alphard smelling old
You may need to run a dehumidifier for several hours to dry the van out. Do you have a relative humidity meter? If so, measure the van. Above 80 and you need to dry it out a bit. With all the rain we are having lately the humidity will climb too high quite quickly. Any signs of damp or green or black mould ? Does your van suffer from condensation on the inside of the windows ? We use lavender in the summer (as we grow loads of it). You can lower the windows a little (and leave them open, to dry the van out; but only if the outside humidity is lower than that in your van !

Flashing red light?
Good advice from Martin. I believe the vehicle is sensing a 'key' close by. Do you have smart locking ?

Wheel size issue
The new wheel offset should be extremely close to the offset of the old wheel. Not being so is likely to be potentially dangerous, possibly illegal, and a point your insurance company will not be happy about at best !

Spare parts not made anymore
I expect you'll get a response from Picasso on this. I can't believe the windscreen jets cannot be bought from somewhere. Have you tried Alibaba or Amayama ?

Get out those old tooth brushes!
A gallon a week does not surprise me at all. I probably would get the same, or even more as I live about 500m from the sea ! It is difficult to get the humidity just right. What is your target Relative Humidity ? My only caution is not to dry the leather out, even more than the summer sun does. Dehumidifying first and then feeding the leather are more important, to me, than the green algae. I di have a sign of mould; we left an unwashed beaker in the van ! Anyone have any tips on how to gentle remove mould from the 'velvety' material used for the inside trim ? Preferable a non bleach based product. Thanks.

Get out those old tooth brushes!
I have had the same thought. I would have the van facing into the prevailing winds and rain. Additionally my van would be facing the 'wrong' way (regarding night time parking). Parking on the other side would upset a neighbour ! The way I park now is easiest for my EHU connection for battery changing and dehumidifying.

Alphard / Vellfire insurance
The Insurance Companies are very aware of the named driver ruse. Most companies will not allow the actual main driver to be a named driver. Terms and Conditions. Using the ruse will, I believe, be fraudulent. Result for fibbing on your application/renewal could be no insurance and the inevitable ban ! Parents beware.

Revolving front passenger seat
Have you got one fitted to you Alphie ? Not an unreasonable price, imho, for the convenience. Does the console between the front seats need to be removed (to allow the rotation) ? On vans I have seen, it does. But that also facilitates movement between front seats and the area without getting out of the vehicle. Very useful if you have a rock and roll (no middle seats) configuration.

Get out those old tooth brushes!
A nice tip. My Alphie faces east, so the passenger side gets the algae. I knew about the tooth brush approach. I'll try wash and wax. I also need to moisten my leather seats after a hot summer. A small tip I have for everyone with leather upholstery is an old rag with a smidgen of polish and leave it under a seat ! Renew as and when. Your can buy deodorisers that smell of leather but they are quite expensive.

AH10 3 litre AWD tyres
Since you have to replace two tyres anyway, the additional cost is only for two (more) tyres. You could keep one of the front as a new spare, if the condition is better than the spare you have.

AH10 3 litre AWD tyres
Hello Lian, You could contact NorthStar and ask for their opinion. I would fit the recommended size, but go XL. XL will firm up the ride a little, but, imho, your Alphie will benefit from that. I have read, that on the 4wd vehicles it is very advisable to keep all tyres the same size and roughly the same wear.
