Oh dear Helen. Was it your only key ? Getting another one is probably quite easy. Getting it cut, to match your ignition lock, perhaps not as, I assume, you have no spare. If you do have a spare, panic not. Is the vehicle at home, or are you stranded ? Either way, an auto locksmith may initially be your best course of action. I can think of at least two expert members, and probably many more, who, I hope will respond to your crisis asap. But it may take a day or two for them to read your thread and respond. I have a top of the range, Gen 1 facelift, with all the mod cons. It has tilt steering but not 'telescopic' as you call it. Maybe the Gen 2 models do. but I doubt it; but try one of those. I would strongly advise against modifying the mounting, or remounting, the seat further back. Safety being the issue, and, maybe, Insurance and MOT issues.

I don't have a solar set up, and cannot advise on upgrading to an AGM. If you do you will need a specialist charger, and the charging time will be longer than a wet battery. You need to confirm your current battery is OK, or not. If you have the space, larger lead acid batteries are available. I would isolate the battery and try to charge it again. If that fails, it may be time for a new one !

Back a while, I tried to have a 'proper' registration plate made with my member name. Unfortunately, because it is a legitimate registration number no-one would make it without a V5; which I don't have. I could have gone offshore to get one made but I didn't.

OK, side conversion then; you didn't mention that. If you are doing this all yourself be very, very, careful with any front seat modifications. In the case of an accident that seat needs to remain exactly where it is supposed to be ! Have you ever seen an Aplhie stripped of its innards ? As you say, they are no van. What would be your plan for the front seat ? Fit it in the middle ? Junk it ? If you junk it you will have seat runners where you don't want them My guess is, and it is a guess, is you won't be able to do it. Furthermore, your middle row seat will have a lap belt, and your front seat will have a three point arrangement. These would need to be fully functional or Mr MOT might not be too pleased. My advice, if you are committed to a front swivel is get in touch with NorthStar Conversions; they know what they are doing. Your other option, of course, is to ask your convertor what they can/will/could do.

Have you been charging the leisure battery in the vehicle ? Connected, or disconnected ? How long did you charge it for ? I would charge at least disconnected, and preferably out of the van. It is important to test a battery under load, preferably out of the van. A simple no load reading is likely to be misleading. Do you have a smart charger ? How are you taking the voltage readings. It may be your better is damaged, or just old. Is there a date on it ? I would be reluctant to change the battery until you know it is faulty. So, a couple of numbers for you, and other readers. Below 12.4v means the battery is discharged. 12.4v to 12.6v fair, and above 12.6v OK. You don't say what capacity your leisure battery has. 110 amp hours takes about 26 hours to reach 80% of full charge. 60 amp hours takes about 12 hours to reach 80% of full charge. Clearly, these both depend on the maximum charging rate the charger will provide. Sorry for a silly question. You do have a split charging system, don't you ? Finally, for this post, I have always had good service from Tanya Batteries, Rhyl, who are not far away. Give them a call, ask for their opinion. They do an excellent mail order service if you do choose to replace your battery. I also bought a mains charger from them, which is excellent.

Hello Nick, There are universal fittings to swivel fronts seats. Be careful, as most are designed for Volkswagen Vans. NorthStar Conversions, on the IOW, do swivels for the fronts seats (Gen 1 at least), but they are expensive, and do not (or did not) fit the middle row. They also add height, so if your passengers are tall that could be a consideration. You may also have to remove the console between the front seats to enable the seat to swivel. I don't have the single swivel seats. Is it a rare Captains seat ? I think you will find the 'normal' swivelling single seat is fitted to an offset frame. If so, you would need to estimate it'snew position relative to all the other hardware. Are you considering a three seater Alphie ?

Hello Sylvia, Ran the cooler too long ! Did you know the state of charge before you ran the cooler ? You can work out how long you can run an appliance. You will need to know the battery is fully charged first. You also need to know the AmpHour capacity of the leisure battery. Often 110. And divide that by the (rated) current drawn. So, say 110 Amp/Hr divided by (say) two amps is charge level55 hours divided by 2 (50%) is 20 to 24 hours. Note. 2 Amps at 12V is only 24 watts. Rather low for a cooler, but adequate for this example. There are different types of cooler. Thermoelectric (low current) and compressor (higher current). You should not drain your battery beyond 50 % (Max) as you can cause harm to it. (Manufacturers tend not to be too open about current drawn).

It isn't. Read your other thread for my advice. The relay does not charge anything, but it does connect the alternator to the leisure battery if the main battery is holding a significant charge. IF this message is intended for Funky Ram, you should send them a personal message; that way they will see it and read it. I doubt, as a business, Funky Ram trawl through all the Forum messages so they may never see it.

Hello Myron, I am confused by this thread. Leisure batteries are not fitted as standard. There is no need for them in normally equipped vehicles. They are needed when wishing to run electrical items without the engine running; otherwise the charge in your starter battery will become depleted beyond its capacity to start your van. 24v batteries are available, but would not normally be fitted to an Alphie which has a 12V alternator fitted. The item you show in the photo does not appear, to me, to be a charger. It is a voltage sensitive relay, and is clearly marked 12v, which makes absolute sense. So your original problem, you believe, is your main battery is not being charged. So, either your alternator is not functioning as it should, or, more likely, in my opinion; your main battery is on its last legs, or the connections are poor. If the former, it won't be long before your leisure battery won't receive enough charge either (if you are using it). So, go to a decent garage, or Halfords, or Kwik Fit, and get your battery tested under load. The battery charger you link to is no use to you if it is a fixed 24v charger. Phone Funky Ram !

Hello Kevin, Welcome to the Forum. My guess is, and it is a guess, that your Sony unit is an aftermarket item. Your machine may have a analogue VTR input, often on the console between the front seats; but being analogue it will have limitations. However, I expect DVD players are still available with analogue (RCA) outputs (or a discrete D to A convertor may do the trick.
