Insurance companies don't like the Alphard
Hello Michael, I am sincerely sorry to hear about your continuing story of woe with your Alphie. With the greatest of respect, I think your accident record is the issue with insurance. Without doubt insurance premiums have risen. But I have read, in this forum, of many members who have received increases but not by much; including myself. I was insured with Aviva for a very reasonable premium until I have my van converted. When I informed Aviva of the 'modifications' they asked me to find another insurer and gave me a reasonable time to do so. I hope that another year will give you plenty of time to find another insurer; perhaps you should try not going through your broker. Try LV, they have several subsidiaries that do insure Alphards. Good Luck, and hopefully enjoy a years motoring in your Alphie.

All these conversions adds weight !
Those rearmost seats are heavy !

Flashing red light
Not really. It is an original feature of the car; so that aspect would have been considered by the designers. However, it is the immobiliser; so you can't immobilise (sorry couldn't resist) it; and shouldn't want to!). The symbol, I believe, is the silhouette of a car in black, with a white key inside.

3.0 V6 fuel consumption
I'm a little surprised, but the 2.4l is a long stroke.

3.0 V6 fuel consumption
Only 60 horses; but how much torque ?

Powered door cable (again)
I believe you are correct. I import goods from Germany for another hobby, and that 135 figure feels familiar. Below 38 value is another threshold !

3.0 V6 fuel consumption
You only have a four speed, whilst Andy has a 5 speed. Andy is quoting 'slow' motorway driving; what driving style do you have, urban, or motorway ? Even so, the difference does seem rather large. As I mentioned, there are a lot of actuals in the Mega Thread.

Rubber floor mats
Odyssey Carpets (Bournemouth area) sell a more robust carpet set. Several colours. I have rubber checker plate in my rear conversion. I also bought durable rubber mats (don't ask as they came from Spain) that are a good fit for the front foot wells. All colour coded to my leather. looks very nice.

3.0 V6 fuel consumption
I think there is a Mega Thread on this very subject. The search box is on your home page, top right.

Powered door cable (again)
I think, 8 or 10 percent, import tax, and VAT of course; but not sure. Try the internet H M Revenue and Customs.

Powered door cable (again)
It depends on where you buy it from ! Which country will it come from ?

ABS+ Handbrake lights
You have three very learned members trying to help you; and you reply by being rude. I have Techstream as it is free, although I have not had cause to use it; nor do I have the correct interface cable.

Faulty RCA input in centre console
Be careful behind the head unit. It is a mass of cables and wires. You appear to doing everything right! Have you checked the connectivity behind the console ? I assume you have from the photo. Whilst not referring to an Alphie, every RCA video input I have used works without a video signal. After all, that's what RCA is, left audio, right audio, and video. Is there any evidence of tinkering in the van ? Spare leads for accessories removed before export?

Faulty RCA input in centre console
The black screen is no surprise (unless you input a video signal. Presumably you have the van stationary and the footbrake is applied. (no footbrake equals no video !) Ignition on ? To be honest, I was going to use the RCA, but never got around to it. Are you sure you are inputting an RCA level signal ? eightseater.blogspot.com (or something similar) does a good tutorial on an HDD head unit. I cannot remember whether he covers the RCA inputs, or not; but it's a good read anyway ! If you have the same HU as I have they are quite complicated. A read will highlight many features and adjustments you can make.

Heater not working
No, you don't. You will almost certainly need a mirror, and ,most likely, the box will be obscured by cabling. I think you will also find, should you need a replacement fuse, they are micro-fuses, just to make life even easier !

Hello May, Welcome to the Forum. Which input are you selecting on the head unit ?

Alphard hybrid 2.4 Petrol - NEVER USE ENGINE BRAKING
As my beloved Father used to say "Brakes are cheaper than Engines or Gearboxes". And I say "Just make sure you don't fry your brakes ! Anyone been to Widdecombe (in the Moor) from Bovey Tracey ? Many drivers roast their brakes on the downhill approach ! !

Rear spoiler blanking plug for when rear mirror removed.
Perhaps you could try to fit a suitably sized rubber grommet. One without the hole, of course !
