Alarm or not
Chris.ac replied to Voodoo101's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Didn't work, but that was over a year ago. I was working with export model wiring diagrams back then, and have not revisited the point using the Japanese schematics. I think there is an additional input into the security ecu to consider, that of the keyfob arming. -
Advice required on HID headlight fault please
Chris.ac replied to NickC's topic in Toyota Alphard (08-15) Technical Guides
Is your engine running when this happens? Test with engine off. Check your battery/alternator voltages. Did you swap nearside and off side bulbs over to confirm the nearside fault remains? -
Gear box or throttle issues
Chris.ac replied to Sorin's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
You have checked the throttle is working correctly? Use the diagnostics outlined here for the throttle and accelerator http://zatonevkredit.ru/repair_manuals/viewdoc_html/AWI4O_qhU9h2CeTmduUr/AWI4PE8GrzlLPWuuVT0m -
Rear Foglights - better integration
Chris.ac replied to Chris.ac's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Yes. It's the very bottom relay position Easier to reach if you remove the kick panel on the left pillar (one small hand removable plastic nut hooks the panel on) -
Strong Petrol vapour smell
Chris.ac replied to PZsurf's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Do you stop filling fuel at the 'click' or do you continue to top off the fuel? You may be overfilling and getting fuel into the carbon evap system. -
Yes. It's used to push data to the car about road conditions, emergency broadcasts etc. Only works in Japan and requires a subscription.

Rear Foglights - better integration
Chris.ac replied to Chris.ac's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
If you have the upgraded indicator stalk, with the front and rear fog positions, then all that is needed is to fit it, ensure the relay is in the passenger side footwell, and the fuse is on the drivers side footwell. That will provide 12v to the rear bumper connector when sidelights/dipped/main beams are on, and the rear fog has been toggled on. If you are trying to fit an aftermarket switch, you will need to tap into the relay directly, as the foglight on signal is sent via the ECU (this is because it's a logic state that resets when ignition is turned off. Rather than a physical switch holding the voltage high) -
A Pillar trim panel
Chris.ac replied to Laurence's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Don't overthink it, it looks like it's harder then it is. Remove grab handle, and the trim comes off quite easily. -
Bed Mode ?
Chris.ac replied to sumogogg's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
The 8 seater does fold 'flat', but not as flat as the 10 series. This is because when the legal requirement to have 3 point belts in each seat position came in to effect, the seats locking mechanism were updated - they no longer hinge by two brackets at the side, they now 'pivot' - this leaves a step effect of several inches. It's not insurmountable with a few bits of foam, but it does make the 20 series a bit more of a faff. -
Japan uses mostly yahoo auctions, which are blocked in UK. There are a few 3rd party sites like rakutan that give you a Japanese postal address, and then forward on to the UK. Amazon have a Japanese site you can create an account for. But i also found a number of covers searching Google for 'alphard 30 car seat covers'

Coolant replacement
Chris.ac replied to Sorin's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Tmc is Toyota motor corp, and refers to Japanese manufactured engines, as opposed to the engines manufactured in Europe or usa. Our imports are tmc. It mentions this because this is an export manual used in Russia/Malaysia/Hong Kong etc. -

Head Unit Replacement
Chris.ac replied to Steve81's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
You should probably post in the 10 series section of the forum. Some people there have copies of the wiring diagram books Online resource is there too, it's in Japanese, but anyone with the will to use Google translate can convert the pdf diagrams to English. -

Best ODB II Scanner for Alphard?
Chris.ac replied to davidd220823's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
I have two of these, they with perfectly in 20 series and a bmw mini. I use car scanner pro app (apple and Android stores). I'm not sure how much data is available on the 10 series, but these adaptors are less than £5, so worth a shot. Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! £4.73 55%OFF | PL Ship V1.5 MINI ELM 327 BT Double PCB ELM 327 Code Reader V1.5 PIC18F25K80 for Android/PC WIFI ELM 327 USB Swith MS/HS SCAN https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJ62muZ -
Just drive for a few miles, it relearns the fuel trims. It does this automatically when you change grade of fuel too. You can also buy a new blanking plate that already has the cutout, it's common across many Toyota models.

Reverse camera guidelines
Chris.ac replied to Sorin's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Ah, you had a model that did not have the full navi system installed. So your etc module was aftermarket fitted. Still, the actual wiring may still exist in the official position in the coin holder location. Check behind that trim. -
Has anyone fitted a forward facing dash cam ?
Chris.ac replied to Michael Brown's topic in General Chat
You could tap into the maplights, with a small switch to isolate. You have a perm live right there. -
Diagnostics on the 20 series ( which you have, your chassis code refers to ( ANH20....), is possible using the obd2 port. It uses the Japanese protocols. If you have a laptop, you can buy a cheap connector and software to enable you to diagnose and reset things, as well as configure dealer options like the sliding door beeps, auto lights thresholds etc etc. You'll find threads here if you search, or just ask if you want links to where to buy. You can even use a Bluetooth adaptor that connects to your phone via app.

Reverse camera guidelines
Chris.ac replied to Sorin's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
If you have the ETC unit still in the little coin holder to right of steering wheel, it has can wires on it. ( As well as a handy switched live and illumination wire)
