I just wanted to give a shout out to DYERNOSTICS, near Bodmin. Our head gasket (2.4L, 2007) went a couple of months ago and Dyernostics was one of the only local places happy to look at it. They were extremely knowledgeable about the Alphard and gave us some great advice about general maintenance. The repair came in on budget and on time, they kept us up to date throughout and they even fixed some other little niggles on the way. A nice chap and highly recommended. I will be using them for services from now on. Jobs a good’un.3 points

They are great cars indeed. Perfectly practical, powerful, gracious and expensive on fuel lol. But a 1st class ride was never the cheapest.2 points

Hi all, Our 2005 AH10 G Facelift, アビー has just had her first set of replacement blades since she came to us. After doing several searches online, we found a company that specialises in identifying blades for non-UK models. In our case we wanted to keep the original front blade design so that アビー maintained her original looks. I can now confirm that the following blades will fit: Front, Bosch Super Plus, SP16 = 16" or 400mm Passenger side. Front, Bosch Super Plus, SP26 = 26" 0r 650mm Drivers side. Rear, Bosch Rear, H409 = 16" or 400mm2 points

Do you know what model trim level you have ? AT, AS, etc. Otherwise send your VIN or registration to Picasso (by Private Message if you prefer) and ask him to search for your model number. I don't think, imho, insurance companies are over interested in tyre wheel combinations provided they are close to the OEM, and not the cause of an accident. However wheel offset is important. The offset is normally stamped on the inside of the wheel; convenient, I know. I'll check the handbook for 17 inch wheels, and get back to you.2 points

One thing I missed when driving my gen 1 Alphard is the indicator lane change 3 flash that is in many newer vehicles these days, and I got so used to using it that when driving my Alphard I often forget and just flick the indicator to change lane and, of course, I get one flash. I'd seen someone was selling an alternative direct replacement flasher relay for upwards of £50 that was modified to give the 3 flash, but that price was too much for me to just avoid holding the indicator down a bit longer. A bit of research turned up a potential alternative for less than £10 on eBay. It didn't specifically mention the lane change function as it seemed to be more aimed at people retro-fitting LED indicator bulbs and messing up the flashing rate, but I had a suspicion so I took a punt and bought it. The original Toyota item and the replacement are shown below. Notice the knob for adjusting the flash rate, and poorly translated "about dodges three times" on the replacement relay. Fitting it was easy enough. Simply pull out the coin drawer thingy just above the bonnet and fuel flap release levers on the driver side of the dash and look in. The relay is fairly obvious. The relay put up a fight and was reluctant to release, but a bit of jiggling and a little bit of leverage from a screwdriver got it out. This photo shows the new one fitted. I turned the hazards on and the flash rate was very fast, but with a quick twiddle of the knob on the relay I had the flash rate back to where it should be. Then the moment of truth - ignition on and flicked the indicator stalk. Three flashes and stop 👍. £10 and 10 minutes work. Bargain! This is the one I bought on eBay, but there appears to be loads of sellers as the original Toyota relay was used on many different models, as you could imagine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386806258020?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xfg_a3ycs9s&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ql8_keC9RJe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY1 point

Hi @Rojie Check out https://www.hillviewawnings.co.uk/ they can fit a wind out awning to an Alphard. With the Alphard i understand it needs custom brackets and due to the shape of the roof line it does not fit flush when compared to say a VW camper, see the pics here, https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=856415616493641&set=a.370352065100001 Hopefully that helps.1 point

2.4l uses a chain. I would not worry about it, honestly. Unless you are having some other major engine issue, the chain is the last thing to worry about1 point

Mine is chain driven, but I think 3litre engines are belt driven. Correct me if I'm wrong1 point

Thank you for your reply !! I am definitely going to give them a call today and see if they will rectify the paperwork! If not will take a look at the companies you have suggested. Thank you!1 point

I am still with Aviva (on other vehicles), but they did fail to renew when I had the conversion done.1 point

Through Howden Insurance, I am with Aviva. Like with all insurance companies, Age, where you keep it and any accidents you may have had in the last 5 years, and good luck1 point

Picasso should be able to tell you which chip and where to buy it. He will also advise you to solder it into the circuit.1 point

Howden Insurance probably also worth a try. These guys and Adrian Flux definitely know what an Alphard is!1 point

First of all, I would like to apologise for my bad English. I am Mat and come from Bremen in Germany. I have been a proud owner of an Alphard 2017 as a hybrid with SRC equipment since 2022. At that time I was the first owner of an AYH-30 in Germany. I look forward to the exchange of experiences, ideas and problem solutions.1 point

Hi everyone. I installed android player to my car since 2022. Before this I never bother about the extra function using canbus box because my car didn't come with 18 unit speaker. Last year I make a study about the function of canbus and make some modification. 1) I bought the socket for meter 40pin. This socket connect to canbus box and HU. Original for other car. 2) I change the connection point to 13&14 follow the diagram 3) then I bought canbus Toyota from raise. 4) after that setting the HU You can get information like - parking trajectory - door information - parking radar - outdoor temperature - millage odometer - average consumption1 point

Hello Helen, Welcome to the Forum. Snows Torbay quoted me; £800, at a guess. 3 or 4 years ago. I am told, the garage opposite the car park for South Devon College, in Paignton, will work on Alphies.1 point

Thanks Rojie, sure will do and Admiral just got 2010 Alphard 3.5 but not for 2008. I phone them and they will need some time to get back to me. I wonder if anyone also got the same model and how they deal with this?1 point

Many thanks all! My Alphard has spoilers so I didn't want to mess with those or undo them, so I bought some suction cups from Amazon - 6 quid and after a bit of pulling... they worked! Thanks again folks1 point

Mine seems to be in permanent zoomed in mode so not really handy for getting an idea of where things are, so I could well be looking at this soon. I would start by taking the boot lid liner off and looking at the connections, which I am assuming there are - it could be a single fixed lead that goes all the way to the head unit. Take a picture of the connector for reference and then dismount the camera and take a picture of that also. If it's the original part then amayama.com would help in finding the correct part number for an original replacement, or if it isn't original you should now have what you need to find a matching or suitable alternative.1 point

Hi there, I just looked in my Alphy manual (it's a Japanese Translation: JPZ Manuals or something like that) and the stated tyre size for a 2.4 ANH10W (FWD) is 225/55 R17 95W (so a W speed rating is still way in excess of any speed I'll ever go at, but Hey Ho.....) See attached photo from the Manual - which sadly I just had to remove - cos it's copyrighted!!. Cheers, Bill1 point
-
Hello Will, Welcome to the Forum. Definitive ? Wow ! Quite assertive. The recommended tyres, according to the Owners Manual, depends on the trim level. This is largely due to the wheel size fitted by the OEM. So the door pillar states a size, the dealership suggested it is fine, but you need more reassurance. What can our membership say to convince you further ? For a pseudo definitive answer please add your model trim level, and we will try and reassure you. Changing wheel sizes and tyre sizes is not likely to be of any concern to Toyota. Your insurance company ? Yes, maybe. Toyota, unless under warranty? No. Generally, higher profile tyres will soften the ride, and, possibly, increase the roll.1 point

How do you find the Android unit from AliExpress, no saving the time issues? I used there 10.1" Facia it needed a small massage but over all great 😁 Cerwin Vega is a wicked brand I've used a range of there speakers over the years and still use my old XL15s from an old car system now in my home Cinema. If you do end up upgrading your speakers i can confirm after a tweak the 3.5" two ways fit in the dash corners.1 point

Hi Guys I just wanted to share pictures and details of the Vangear mini pod I just brought and installed in my Alphard. There were some members who were interested in this so I thought I'd start a new topic. I ordered the unit about 3 weeks ago and requested they fit an extra rail for an additional table I wanted. I had removed one of the rear seats and placed a plastic mat before fitting the pod.. which took about 20 minutes to fit. I've placed all my utensils, ridgemonkey, camping bits in the cupboard and behind the unit. I have enough space under the table to put my Thetford loo and my poweroak power station, with space on top to put my stove, picnic rugs and blankets etc..My 30L fridge sits on top when I'm parked up. The only issue I had was that the leg for the table facing the tailgate was not meant to be long enough to reach the floor outside. I instead used an extended tent pole which I already had.. this was perfect. The pictures I've attached were taken when I fitted the unit. I placed all the above items and more in and around it afterwards. This still give me the use of 6 seats 😀 I can remove the whole unit and bolt back the seat in 40 minutes if I had to. It's a brilliant unit. I hope this inspires you all to get out and to enjoy these brilliant vehicles. Aftab1 point

Hi Gerald, Best guess is neither of them - I think the two sockets on the top LH are the power in and speaker outputs, and both of those loom's you picture are for the 18 speaker / home theater equipped cars (but for different head units) which have different sockets and the MOST converter (the expensive box with the label) to interface the factory external audio amp. Are there any speakers in the headlining on your Vellfire? if not, I think you need this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006851477450.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.6.3f4148a51t2G3L&algo_pvid=cc97d0d8-8741-49ee-864f-85e1b2e982ac&algo_exp_id=cc97d0d8-8741-49ee-864f-85e1b2e982ac-5&pdp_ext_f={"order"%3A"33"%2C"eval"%3A"1"}&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!3.59!3.59!!!33.41!33.41!%402103956b17467993634286885e316a!12000038516047136!sea!UK!2324886173!X&curPageLogUid=TtMaSPsYcBFr&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A But unsure if you need the CANBUS adapter (small box) version or not. Maybe others can advise?1 point

Hello Laura Welcome to the forum Your insurance all depends on age, where you are going to keep your vehicle, where you live and how many accidents you have had in the last 5 years. £1,000. seems relatively cheap to me. Mine is £1,900. March 25 till March 26, then I hope it will come down another £1,000. In 2023 it was £4,200. In 2024 around £3,600. All because I unfortunately had a few claims. Insurance companies tend to right Japanese imports off rather than repair them fearing parts are unobtainable. So enjoy driving your Vellfire carefully. Back in 2023 the Hybrid Inverter on my Alphard packed up redendering the vehicle useless. I'd paid £9,500. in August 2022. On reccommendation from Colin Campbell who services Alfie, he suggested a guy called Peter Holland, he runs a business out of Southbourne nr Emsworth specialising in car electrics . www.brightsparkautomotive.co.uk I took Alfie to him. He reported back that that the Inverter was beyond repair and followed it up by saying the Inverters were still made in Japan. Costing £5,200. including shipping and VAT. So I took out a bank loan and the Hybrid Inverter was ordered. 2.5 weeks later Alfie was given a new Inverter, like being given a new heart. No problems since apart from a couople of punctures and a new battery. Happy motoring1 point

Hi there! Ours was 3 years in the UK with its one previous owner, one owner in Japan, we've had it a mere 4 months, but loving it. We too had Galaxy's, and Grand Voyagers, this is far and above a better car. Parts - so far, 🤞, the very few I've needed (front brakes and rear washer motor) - haven't been a problem for my local autofactors. And the Amayama site is great for bits I wanted (but didn't need!) Cheers! Nev1 point

Hi again Chris! Yes as you've gathered in trying to get to the bottom of this one still. I'll go on a search for a bypass cable but id also thought about switching the channels around on the amp the rear most speaker set could be diverted to the front speakers and vice versa, obvioulsy this would mess with the fader but id aim to get a decent sound with the fader set to the zero or middle position. Ive had so many vehicles with full range speakers in the front doors that it makes no sense to me to remove those lower frequencies at that position in the car. I suspect I'll need to dynamat the enclosures or damp them a bit better. Im wondering if the japanese market sound preference is for a 'brighter, less bassy sound' im gonna get under the seat and switch some feeds around today and investigate... Cheers.1 point

I have been there and tried everything. Nothing but dead ends so I bought a 12.1 inch Tesla style head unit from Ali Express with 128gb of ram. It replaces both the standard unit along with the A/C controls. It's not as complicated to install as you might expect. I did it myself and when I ran into problems, the factory engineer helped me via WhatsApp and it works great. It has a proper GPS antenna and a sim card slot so you can essentially use it as you would a Tablet and it has 2 WiFi antennas so your passengers can connect to it too. Cost about $900 AUD inc postage.1 point
