  1. Can you post a photo please, so other Alpharders,, with Calder Conversions can comment on what you have; rather than on what they think you may have.
  2. Hello Kenneth, Welcome to the Forum.
  3. Hello Bill, Welcome to the Forum. Are you referring to a private sale, or a business sale ? If a private sale, yes, you can post in the Buy and Sell section. If a business sale, no, Trade Sales are not allowed unless you become a Trade Member. To do that, you need to contact The Alphard Club (as in the membership list) by Personal Message (which is Private).
  4. Have you used your internal blackouts yet. The insulated ones tend to encourage condensation on the inside of the windows ! So you still have moisture/wetness to deal with. Clearly a matter of choice, and the weather.
  5. A habitation check is not a legal requirement on a Campervan provided it is not hired out to customers. My insurance company requires a Gas Safety Certificate, as I carry liquified bottled gas. A GSC is not a legal requirement either, but it is very reassuring to know that your gas installation is safe. If you wish to read more about the legal situation you could read my thread on the subject. In it there is, imho, a good article exploring the safety side of things.
  6. As Alex says, scrape off a little solder mask, and solder a small wire to bridge the 'blown' copper track. You have nothing to lose.
  7. Hello PaulaMaria, Welcome to the Forum. Please note this thread is 3 and 1/2 years old.
  8. It should be obvious if it is undersealed, or not.
  9. Could you please edit your location to enable local members to assist you. Undersealing can be painted or sprayed. It is usually black. It can be a messy diy job. Many imported Alphies are not undersealed at the factory. So it is worth checking. Undersealing may be standard on later models; it certainly wasn't on Gen 1 models.
  10. If he has many customers on this Forum I am sure many will come forward and recommend him. In the meantime have you read his Terms and Conditions or any Contract wording you will be required to sign. I am intrigued what the legal status is of an agent; the values you mention are not insignificant. Some members do import their 'own' vehicles with great success and significant savings.
  11. Despite the impressive photo of hundreds of vehicles on the website, which I suspect is the auction lot in Japan, the trading address seems to be a private dwelling. I would conduct a very thorough research. Companies House, trading Standards, Trust Pilot, etc. If the vehicle is already in the UK, that is very different.
  12. Hello, Welcome to the Forum.
  13. In the UK you can have you vehicle inspected by Motoring Organisations, there is a fee of course. Alternately, there is the Ministry of Transport roadworthiness test. Although not available to you; I expect there is some similar opportunities in Canada. Your vehicle is unlikely to be undersealed for use in Japan. In my opinion, undersealing is essential.
  14. Well good for Aviva, at least you can drive and maintain your lifestyle. I am so sorry I cannot give you a good recommendation. Have you tried Saga. I was with them many years whilst travelling to and from Spain on a regular basis.
  15. Clearly, your claims record is having an impact on premiums. Did you make the claims with Aviva ? I was with Aviva until I had my van converted. For the premiums you are paying surely it must be worthwhile spending significant time 'shopping around'. Perhaps you already have done that to no avail.
  16. There is an MZ G edition too. The model number is on the VIN plate, B pillar. With the complete model number, or the entire VIN, some members can tell you exactly what you have. Yes
  17. Because it is a grey import many insurance companies are not up to speed. An Alphard and a Vellfire are almost the same vehicle; they only have superficial differences. However, if an Insurance Company don't see it that way you just have to be persistent. My advice ? Don't use on-line quotation tools, read the insurance section in this forum and start phoning the companies directly. Good Luck.
  18. Hello Jez, Welcome to the Forum. What is your model number ? Mine is MH10 xxxxxx. Yours will be something similar. We will need all the character string.
  19. Hi Harley, Have you identified who will maintain your new vehicle ? In the UK it is not always easy to find mechanics willing and able to do the work competently. So, initially, I would focus on Who, rather than What, and Where you (or they) will source the parts. In the UK most official Toyota Dealers will not work on grey imports. Hopefully, that is not the case in Canada.
  20. Hello Luke, Welcome to the Forum, and thanks for the tip.
  21. Hello Andrew, Welcome to the Forum
  22. Most, but not all. Toyota Dealers will not work on grey imports.
  23. After a little research on CVTs I thought I would pass on that they are not best suited to towing. Furthermore, they are unlikely to cope favourably with an identical load when compared to a conventional automatic. I agree with Adam. The heavier the load you expect to tow, the more you should consider an automatic. In the case of a Gen 2 that leaves the only, sensible, choice as the 3.5l V6.
  24. Hello Colin, Welcome to the Forum.
