  1. Yes , Picasso, actually Lee. Search the Leadership section, or membership section, and click on the blue initial 'button'. Send him a personal message. Is it the sump pan, or a main housing. Presumably the engine dumped all its oil when this happened ! Did the engine seize ?
  2. Hello Chris, So sorry to hear of your misfortune. Should you decide to replace your engine Picasso can, almost certainly advise you on a mechanic that can remove and replace the engine. Quite close to you too. Perhaps he can even suggest where to search for a replacement. What, exactly, is the issue with your current engine? I can't see from the photo ?
  3. I have a dash mat. Carefully located they will not obscure the light sensor.
  4. I agree entirely with Steve. 17k is a lot for a conversion. Of course, it depends on your specification, although some convertors adopt the attitude of 'this is what we do. take it or leave it". One thing to consider is the compromise between an experienced convertor with a significant financial turnover and therefore legally compelled to charge you VAT; hence, effectively a 20 percent surcharge, or a qualified carpenter / electrician that will not be obliged to levy VAT. The latter may not have the experience, and competence you will need ! I located such a rare, talented craftsman, who, unfortunately no longer undertakes conversions. I could provide you with the details, privately, on the understanding that he will almost certainly decline your business. Were he to agree to undertake your work I expect you would save 50 percent of a 17k budget. A key decision is pop top or not; as they are expensive. My guess would be 5k minimum !
  5. Hello Pete, have you made any modifications to your machine recently ? Chris.ac is a whiz on most things electrical, and is located very close to you. He will probably respond to this quite quickly, but if not you could send him a Personal Message.
  6. Hello Stephen, Welcome to the Forum. To my knowledge there are not many flatpack options available. I cannot comment on your recent model, but there is a vendor in North Devon for flatpacks for previous versions.
  7. As Lee pointed out; what you are trying to achieve is no simple task. My advice, forget Cruise Control; you really should not need it with that V6 purring away. Wiring diagram ? As Lee states, cruise was not fitted prior to (late) 2005; so there is no wiring for it. Gen 1 facelift yes, original Gen 1, no.
  8. Hello Kevin, Welcome to the Forum.
  9. Hello Elaine, Welcome to the Forum.
  10. Hello Debbie, Welcome to the Forum. Awnings and rails is one of the most popular topics in this forum. Search for Awnings at the top right of your home page.
  11. Hello Alan, Welcome to the Forum. I am not aware of any meeting that has been arranged (yet) by the Club this year. But there is plenty of help, advice and comment on this forum. So you have come to the right place; lots to read about !
  12. Hello Noel, Welcome to the Forum. Thank you for this procedure. I believe it has been previously requested.
  13. There is a Recall Status checker in the Technical Section of the Forum.
  14. Try inputting the vehicle registration number into the DVLA. Of course, it will only be accurate if recall details are passed to the UK. I believe Toyota can check for you but may not be a quick process. I don't have a CarVX report, but other members do; hopefully you will receive some replies soon.
  15. Hello Justin, Welcome to the Forum. Please update your profile so readers will know which machine you have ! Model and location would be helpful.
  16. Thank you Richard. A very worthwhile addition to our knowledge base. The Google review has not been verified. Nor is Jonathan Bennett a member of The Alphard Club. HOWEVER, Knonos appears to be located next door to the Stuart Spencer dealership. This is significant, as Stuart Spencer Autos is one of the established Alphard / Vellfire vendors of some repute. I am assuming that Stuart Spencer Autos use Kronos for their undersealing. If that is the case that is, indirectly, a recommendation.
  17. Hello Honza, There are traders, and there are Traders. I would be looking carefully at the vehicles the sellers have. Alphards and Vellfires are becoming ever more popular. There are many importers / dealers that have been involved with these machines for years. There are some new businesses trying to 'get in on the act' If these sellers have a large assortment of (different) vehicles for sale they may be 'box shifters'; without ay real experience with the Marque. There are issues associated with buying (or self importation) of the JDM vehicles. (Japanese Domestic Market). 'Box shifters' may not be the ideal places to purchase. I would avoid them. THE most important decision you make is which dealer to buy from. I have an undersealed Gen 1 facelift, so cannot knowingly comment of the chassis treatments (if any) of the later models. I am sure other members will. I believe an AA/RAC/Independent report is essential; especially if buying from a 'box shifter'. If the report will not effect your decision to purchase, then don't bother with one. Many of the expenses you list are voluntary. Others are a legal requirement ! So, no discussion there then. Google reviews ? Hhmm ! Read what members record in this Forum as they have no reason to 'adjust the truth'. Perhaps the Vellfire is not a vehicle for you. Perhaps you could look at other, more specialised, dealers. We have many Gen 2 owners; I feel sure you will receive underseal advice from some of them. Good Luck
  18. Most members would not know, as it is normally the importing dealer that have the work done. So, the job is normally complete before members make their purchase.
  19. Good morning Bob, Welcome to the Forum.
  20. Hello John, Thanks for this; but my struts are not electric. The tail-gate motor is, but not the struts. I don't want the complication of additional wiring; but I will check them out. Could I ask you please, when convenient, to measure the strut diameter. I have previously imported 'suitable' struts which, unfortunately, were not suitable !
  21. Oddyssey Carpets make mat sets for Alphards. Nice and durable, but not rubber.
  22. Thank you John, At that price I'll probably give it a try. Were they 'easy' to fit ?
  23. I have been considering replacing the struts on my MZG. There are different versions depending on power door or not. At the time, my local Toyota dealer could get them for 200ukp each ! Can you disclose the price you have paid for yours, please. I'll check and see if they supply those for the power door version. My door almost opens fully, I do need to be careful when stepping under the tail-gate from a kerb. However, functional that it is, it judders while closing which annoys e intensely.
