  1. There is an MZ G edition too. The model number is on the VIN plate, B pillar. With the complete model number, or the entire VIN, some members can tell you exactly what you have. Yes
  2. Because it is a grey import many insurance companies are not up to speed. An Alphard and a Vellfire are almost the same vehicle; they only have superficial differences. However, if an Insurance Company don't see it that way you just have to be persistent. My advice ? Don't use on-line quotation tools, read the insurance section in this forum and start phoning the companies directly. Good Luck.
  3. Hello Jez, Welcome to the Forum. What is your model number ? Mine is MH10 xxxxxx. Yours will be something similar. We will need all the character string.
  4. Hi Harley, Have you identified who will maintain your new vehicle ? In the UK it is not always easy to find mechanics willing and able to do the work competently. So, initially, I would focus on Who, rather than What, and Where you (or they) will source the parts. In the UK most official Toyota Dealers will not work on grey imports. Hopefully, that is not the case in Canada.
  5. Hello Luke, Welcome to the Forum, and thanks for the tip.
  6. Hello Andrew, Welcome to the Forum
  7. Most, but not all. Toyota Dealers will not work on grey imports.
  8. After a little research on CVTs I thought I would pass on that they are not best suited to towing. Furthermore, they are unlikely to cope favourably with an identical load when compared to a conventional automatic. I agree with Adam. The heavier the load you expect to tow, the more you should consider an automatic. In the case of a Gen 2 that leaves the only, sensible, choice as the 3.5l V6.
  9. Hello Colin, Welcome to the Forum.
  10. Is the dealer you bought from a member of BITMA ? If so, they may have the info on file. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again !
  11. Hello Michael, What are you trying to achieve with the CarVX report ? Are you looking to import another van? I believe the info provided on some imports can be sketchy. BITMA could be helpful if the car is/was imported by a member of their Trade Organisation; otherwise, probably not. Ihmo, vendors trying to sell a stolen vehicle through the Japanese export system are looking for trouble. Finally, if you use Google to view CarVX, Google can remember your passwords (if you request it to).
  12. Hello Gary, Welcome to the Forum
  13. Hello Steve, Welcome to the Forum.
  14. I have not read anything about longevity comparisons either.
  15. . If have three keys and three smart fobs. None have a folding key
  16. Have you read the threads about the vin plate issues with towing ? Does the 2.4 have a CVT ? I thought it was a conventional 4 speed auto. The 3.5l V6 is 2008 onwards, prior to that a 3.0l V6. There are discussions in this forum regarding "To tow, or not to tow" and also the pros and cons of the 4 cylinder versus the V6. You can search from your home page.
  17. Very interesting as those tuners are inexpensive. What aerial are you using ?
  18. You may not have folding mirrors, hence no legend on the button. Heated mirrors was a Cold Climate option. Quite rare.
  19. Timpsons would not do my door and ignition key. I doubt they do 'smart' keys either. But the smart key fobs on the Gen 1 are only for door locks; they won't start the car. Furthermore, if 'their own chip' does not have the 4D67 chip, it won't operate the demobiliser ! I used a local automotive locksmith.
  20. Hello Kizzi, Welcome to the Forum.
  21. Try Toyota/Alphard/EPC, or wait for Picasso to request your Reg/Vin
  22. That could be the ETC above the fold out draw. Does the ETC fit in there, or is an ETC already present. Almost looks like a detent (for a finger) to allow the ETC to be withdrawn. Just a slot to take a card !
  23. Sorry. I have an earlier model; and foolishly described the ETC position in that, thinking it would be the same in your model. That module does not resemble the ETC I have; but again it could be a newer version. I assume the coin holder Chris.ac mentions is below those switches in your photo, or behind your phone. As ever, many Alphies/Vellfires are modified by their former Japanese owners. Some do them well, others don't.
  24. Just as an aside. You should never let your van be towed. Automatic transmissions can be harmed by towing. You should use a dolley at least, and preferably a flat bed truck. This applies to all automatics, not just Alphies. It is not unusual to have battery issues. Batteries can be tested by any competent garage, or Halford, Kwik Fit, and others. They need to be tested under heavy load. A voltmeter is not enough, unless you have a dead cell. (10.8v). You must keep yours fully charged, certainly the starter battery. If you park off road, a smart charger is a great investment. Check for loose connections on the battery and earth leads. Ensure the room (mood) lights are off, which can be difficult to detect in daylight. I have dimmable lights running off the leisure battery; again essential to ensure they are off !
  25. What, leaving a big opening in your dash ? It is unnecessary, and would not be needed in the UK; but you have been left with a hole in your dash panel ? Have you just bought this vehicle ? Privately, or from a business ?
