  1. I think there is a Mega Thread on this very subject. The search box is on your home page, top right.
  2. I think, 8 or 10 percent, import tax, and VAT of course; but not sure. Try the internet H M Revenue and Customs.
  3. It depends on where you buy it from ! Which country will it come from ?
  4. You have three very learned members trying to help you; and you reply by being rude. I have Techstream as it is free, although I have not had cause to use it; nor do I have the correct interface cable.
  5. Be careful behind the head unit. It is a mass of cables and wires. You appear to doing everything right! Have you checked the connectivity behind the console ? I assume you have from the photo. Whilst not referring to an Alphie, every RCA video input I have used works without a video signal. After all, that's what RCA is, left audio, right audio, and video. Is there any evidence of tinkering in the van ? Spare leads for accessories removed before export?
  6. The black screen is no surprise (unless you input a video signal. Presumably you have the van stationary and the footbrake is applied. (no footbrake equals no video !) Ignition on ? To be honest, I was going to use the RCA, but never got around to it. Are you sure you are inputting an RCA level signal ? eightseater.blogspot.com (or something similar) does a good tutorial on an HDD head unit. I cannot remember whether he covers the RCA inputs, or not; but it's a good read anyway ! If you have the same HU as I have they are quite complicated. A read will highlight many features and adjustments you can make.
  7. No, you don't. You will almost certainly need a mirror, and ,most likely, the box will be obscured by cabling. I think you will also find, should you need a replacement fuse, they are micro-fuses, just to make life even easier !
  8. Hello May, Welcome to the Forum. Which input are you selecting on the head unit ?
  9. Hello George, Welcome to the Forum. Are you a trader ? If not, there is a section for each category in this forum. Go to Forums (in the blue header on your home page) and check down the list. Traders are not allowed to advertise, or sell through the Forum unless they register for a Trader Account.
  10. Hello Paul, Welcome to the Forum. Have you searched this forum yet ? Members have previously mentioned a couple 'down' south'
  11. As my beloved Father used to say "Brakes are cheaper than Engines or Gearboxes". And I say "Just make sure you don't fry your brakes ! Anyone been to Widdecombe (in the Moor) from Bovey Tracey ? Many drivers roast their brakes on the downhill approach ! !
  12. Perhaps you could try to fit a suitably sized rubber grommet. One without the hole, of course !
  13. Amayama have a part number tool, or send your registration or VIN to Picasso by Private Message. Presumably driver's side ?
  14. Picasso will supply you with part numbers, if he can. What part numbers do you need ? Belt, alternator, both, any other parts ?
  15. Hello Barry, Welcome to the Forum. I assume you have checked the fluid level; any bubbles in the reservoir ? Did you change all the fluid when fitting the replacement ? Any leaks under the vehicle overnight ? I believe later models have electric steering; so many owners, like myself, probably won't be much help to you. I am not sure whether steering systems need bleeding (did you bleed yours?) . I have read that turning from full lock to full lock, with the engine running, can help to remove bubbles in the system (if there are any). The article I read was not about an Alphie; but it's worth a try.
  16. As far as I can tell there is no fuse for the heater. There is fuse for the air conditioner. Fuse17, 10A, in the fuse box in the passenger footwell. It's a pig to get to even after you have removed the glove box. Some members have had trouble with the heater circuit flap valve. Search this forum, it is covered somewhere !
  17. Amayama perhaps, or Alibaba. You'll be surprised how expensive they are !
  18. Great result. Well Done Campervan Co. Let us all know the result please.
  19. Yes, it can be expensive. It depends on your needs and wants. Often it is one of the first upgrades new owners make; some go the 'whole hog'. Others adopt a different approach. You may have audio or auxiliary inputs you can hook up to. Maps and guidance are available on many phones. I find the reversing camera extremely useful. And radio 2 isn't so bad. There is a guy in Birmingham, but Ben Hau is nowhere near close to you. Lots of info in the Forum. Search for Radio Replacement or Head Unit replacement
  20. No front cameras ? Some installations may cause loss of cameras and other steering wheel functions. As I say proceed with caution and make sure you ask all the relevant questions ! Good Luck
  21. Hello Peter, Welcome to the Forum. Do you have front and rear cameras ? Proceed with care as you may lose that functionality.
  22. In that case I would return it to them and have it fixed under Consumer Law etc. Was there a written warranty ? If you can't get it started you should call them and discuss what action they will take. A conversation with Trading Standards and Citizens Advice before you do may be beneficial.
  23. Please share with us how you achieved it. It may benefit other Alphie owners.
  24. A Main Dealer is unlikely to agree to work on the car. Some do, so it is worth checking. Presumably you do not have a spare manual key (just in case the key chip is faulty). An auto electrician is the best bet to start with; a newly programmed or reprogrammed key may do the trick. I have had a flat battery more than once; neither the smart key or manual key were affected.
  25. Hello Warren, Welcome to the Forum. Did you buy privately, or from a business ?
