Are you sure your starter battery is in good condition. Has it been disconnected or discharged? Can you charge it overnight ? Yes there is a simple procedure to restore the windows. I'll update this post tomorrow morning with it for you to try. Ldrego (on here) or Cuttothechase has a procedure that may fix your boot. search Youtube. As Picasso says, JPNZ Owner Manuals are available on ebay. Worth every penny. Every owner should have one. Correct keys are also available on ebay. Check my posting of yesterday.

Hi Karina, Please note note my previous reply regarding ULEZ. There are many threads on here from owners facing the roof bar problem. There were roof bars for some Gen 1 vans, but they were/re exceedingly rare. Otherwise, you have lots of reading to do, and will face some interesting decisions. There is an annual MEET early next month near Coventry. It would be a great place for you to look and ask about what is available. Good Luck

Hi Karina, Be cautious when buying a ULEZ compliant Alphard. The early ones, I believe until some time during 2006, are not ULEZ. Hopefully I'm correct, otherwise we will hear from more knowledgeable owners than !

Hi Iain, Welcome to the Forum. As the Alphie was introduced in 2002, there are none over 20 years old to use as a reference. So if you do buy a 2006 or 2008 it won't be that long before it is 20 years old ! Isn't the Outback a Rough Roader, as opposed to an Off Roader. Imho, the Aphie is a road car, not for any off road surfaces except camp sites and grassy hard shoulders. Good luck with your hunt, and consider undersealing for protection as JDM vehicles do not need it.

Common problem. I suspect the immobilser chip has not been programmed. The correct keys are sold on ebay with the correct frequency for the immobiliser. There is a thread (at least one) on here where I have shown the correct unit (which you may already have). I'll try and find it again for you. Be VERY CAREFUL when attaching / detaching to leads to your cars and batteries. Observe correct polarity. Connect with both car OFF, Start the jump car, not yours; then turn on yours and try to start. Hopefully, your van will start. Remove the jump leads VERY carefully as they are still live. Then either go for a run, or let the van tick over for at least 30 minutes, 45 minutes is even better. Go to Halfords or Kwik Fit and get your battery tested (you don't have to buy from either, or Tanya Batteries for mail order).

Hell again, I think you have mentioned this before, or someone else has ! I agree, but the Jubilee clip was fitted by the convertor, not Toyota. It is naughty, as a pound xtra cost to the buyer, or squeeze on the margin is pennypinching Whist your comment is very valid I wouldn't accuse Toyota of penny pinching. Happy Camparding

Hi Andy, What electric cable ? You need to charge your battery with a suitable battery charger. Do you have a camper conversion ? Plugging into an EHU will not charge your main battery unless you have a battery charger wired in to your EHU sockets. A leisure battery will not, normally, charge your main battery. Leisure batteries often use different battery technology. Will the van jump start with Jump Leads (NOT a push start).

Hi Craig, I agree, but most of the factors you list regarding driving style also affect the long term reliability of the engine and transmission. As a rough guide, both measures are meaningful.

This is a long running debte. Teekay initiated a thread which invites owners to share their (real life) consumption data (petrol I mean). Some have recorded better mileage with E5, even when the additional cost if factored in. Perhaps you could add your findings to the tread to 'balance' the opinion.
