  1. No. Just type Japanese MPV Specialists into google. Ask for Naeem. He has someone that works on Alphards for him.
  2. I agree with Voodoo. I have driven autos for 40 years, keeping it in gear is OK. Just make sure you don't take your foot off the foot brake !
  3. Japanese MPV Specialist in Uxbridge is worth a try. There is a garage next door to them.
  4. Hello Shaf1que, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Alphard ownership. Plentyto read about herein.
  5. Interesting. When I told Aviva that the Alphie on my multicar policy had been converted, they declined to insure it anymore.
  6. There has been a lot of debate about this subject; much of it on this Forum ! Do a little searching to find the pros and cons of each There is also a thread about members actual consumption. Quite a few report that E5, despite the cost, works out cheaper.
  7. Hello Mark, I wait to be argued with by someone who has fitted electric done diy, if that's what you mean. My guess, a nightmare and (very) expensive too.
  8. If you are referring to cab curtains, try a scrapyard, sorry, recycler as some early Alphards came with them. If you are referring to window curtains, I believe most people adding curtains (as many Alphies have them) just use the net curtain wire technique. I hope you get some replies from members who have fitted curtain rails etc. I have electric curtains which are a little temperamental but work manually really well. Even with the Limo glass they do improve privacy.
  9. They are. I think Chris means Domestic, as in Japanese market, and exported, as in all other markets.
  10. I wasn't recommending them, but they were much cheaper than the ones from the US !!! Well done to Chris.ac, the 'resident' electrical expert
  11. Hello Shaun, D2S is correct, according to my JPNZ Owners Manual. £120 from Amayama.
  12. Hi Fabrizio, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Alphard ownership. Happy Camparding
  13. They could be anything. Japanese owners are renown for adding gizmos. Could be toll, but toll system is normally rhs of steering wheel. My advice ? Make sure they are well insulated and leave under the footmat. Do you have, or did you have the Theatre System ? Or any other supplementary audio visual system ?
  14. They look lovely. I have some beige leather ones, but there is not really a market for them as most conversions involve sacrificing these seats. Good Luck though
  15. But it's the condition that matters. Check for undersealing too. The more boxes you have, and mine has all but one of them, the more there is to go wrong. You should also be trying to locate a suitable mechanic as most Toyota dealers will to work on grey imports. There is a ever growing Megathread on the Forum that identifies servicing locations.
  16. Did Calders supply the van, or just the conversion ? Removing/disconnecting the battery, which they will have done during conversion, could effect all windows. Try and reset them all. It will take Calders all of 5 minutes to fix, if that is the problem. Do you mean USB and cigarette sockets ? Are they connected ? Fuses blown ? Calders are unlikely to overlook connecting them. Try a long deep charge of both batteries. I use the Swedish brand CTEK. As winter approaches you should consider a new main battery. It is not unknown for dealers to swap a good battery out and put in an old one after purchase before delivery. Happened to me. Battery appears charged but fails to start engine within days. To be absolutely clear, I am not inferring Calders have done this. Obviously battery life is a function of time and load. There are guides on the internet that can work this out for you; but you need to know the load and the battery capacity (amp per hrs).
  17. The Gen 1 and Gen 2 systems are different. Lanciaman needs the one that is in the Picasso photo
  18. Try Autotrader. Find one 'local', and take it for test drive, insurance permitting. If it is a 'proper' dealer they will have trade plates. Don't buy the first you see and drive, shop around a little. Don't be surprised if they are a superb drive, they usually are. I would advise an AA or RAC Inspection Report. The one I commissioned was £300 and very thorough. Drop a PM to Ledrego, he is in your area, is a member on here and a local group. He prefers contact through youtube, Cuttothechase. He may offer advice on where to buy.
  19. There is a video, by Cuttothechase, on youtube that deals with replacing the cable (if that is what you problem is. It's worth a look.
  20. Nor me ! Is the manual in English ?!
  21. Sounds good. I have a battery charger hooked up to the leisure battery, so if I am on EHU I am also charging my leisure battery. 15m should be long enough, I have 25m. 2.5mm. I have red some campsites are not happy with 1.5mm. Other members will say they have never had any trouble with 1.5mm I have read, on this Forum, that 15m can be too short at some camp sites !
  22. At its simplest. Yes. You need to think very carefully about your conversion if DIY. What will you use the vehicle for? They are so versatile. If getting a professional to do the work you can discuss it with them. If you use campsites an EHU is very useful.
  23. Hello Holly, Welcome to the Forum Welcome to Alphard/Vellfire ownership. Gas mileage is a function of the distances you expect to cover. A gentle right foot goes a long way, and the V6 engines are smooth and powerful. Your will have a 6 speed gearbox, which helps. There is a thread on here, a Megathread regarding gas mileage, actuals. I believe the headunits on your model, at least the OEM ones are able to be changed to English. Alpine is a good brand, I would not rush to change it. Take a photo of the Alpine when it arrives. You do not have to change the speedo to MPH but most do. It's not a difficult job. You need to buy and fit a different speedo chip. The dials, or meters as the Japanese call them, need to be removed, the chip changed and the dial assembly replaced. Lots of this is covered herein. Lots of reading to do while you wait for the boat to arrive. You will need an MOT before you can register the van with the DVLA.
  24. Hi Cazalfie, Welcome to the Forum. Take the van back to Calders, they are one of the best suppliers. They ought to fix it if you only just took delivery of the conversion. The window may be because the battery was replaced. The window controller 'forgets' the settings and closure points. From memory, you half open each window then close it and hold for a few seconds after the window has closed. Then do the next window and so on. All from the drivers door. Ignition on. You may also find your moon roof, if you have one, is also affected.
