  1. Can you post a photo of your key. There are more than one type. I suggest you need a specialist auto locksmith. You could try RomaHome in Ryde (or is it Cowes). They may know a suitable local auto locksmith/supplier. It won't be cheap. 80 to 120 pounds, or so. The auto locksmith I used, a local (to me) guy, made all my keys to masters; but you must have a master to start with ! The blank keys are available on ebay and include the immobiliser chip. Not sure about the Gen 1 which you have; but the Gen 1 facelift needs the 4D67 chip in the key blank. Blanks are usually less than 20 pounds.
  2. I believe that if you use a 'chip' to convert the km reading to miles there is an opportunity to 'clock' (reduce) the reading. It is important to review the auction sheet prior to purchase, as that certificate states the kilometres travelled prior to export. There is, of course, additional travel after export; potentially from UK dock delivery to wherever (although many are trucked); and this should be considered. My Alphie was clocked but, fortunately, only by a small amount. Potential buyers should be aware there are 'Specialist Alphard Dealers' and 'Dealers who deal in Alphards' Generally, there is a difference in quality and service provided by each of these categories. Having a new 'chip' fitted (at any time) is an option for Peter and Liz; assuming there is no other cause. This could be an inexpensive repair solution that any reputable Specialist Alphard Dealer could perform for you. To be clear, absolutely clear, I am not suggesting, or promoting, 'clocking'.
  3. Hi Kully, There is a major thread on this Forum where members disclose their Insurance Company and, in some cases, their premium. Try to search for Insurance in the search box at the top right of your home page.
  4. Hello all, Just a gentle reminder to all members that the ULEZ Charge and Congestion Charge are not the same thing. ULEZ compliant vehicles will still need to pay the Congestion Charge (in Central London).
  5. Hi Nigel, Good luck with the Auto Covers. Please update us all when you can. I do not have a whole cover, just a screen cover (from Fuel Lagoon) which I would wholeheartedly recommend; but I do not use it in winter. I have a full cover for another vehicle which, if attached very carefully, does not rub the paintwork or get blown off in a gale. I actaully use it in the summer to prevent sun damage to paintwork and headlights. I am not, yet, aware of a custom fit weather proof cover for the Alphards, Gen 1 or Gen 2, or Vellfires.
  6. Hello Shane, Welcome to the Forum. Just to let you know, the 2.4 comes with a 4 speed auto. There is a Megathread on this forum where members have disclosed their consumption figures. Search for MegaThread in the search box on your home page.
  7. If members review this company on Trust Pilot, they will, almost certainly, agree with you.
  8. Hello Jacek, Welcome to the Forum. If your Alphie isn't undersealed you should be making that a priority.
  9. Happy Alpharding. Austria, lovely country.
  10. Hi Alan, There is a 'MEGA THREAD' on this Forum regarding members' experience with fuel consumption. Search for Megathread or review Teekay posts
  11. Links to ebay should be OK, provided you are not the selling company.
  12. Hello Sheldon, Not come across this issue before ! Sounds like a set up problem. Which country did your Alphie originate in ?
  13. Have you tried ebay? I tried 12v, 16w, W2.1 and got several choices. Thanks for the photo, but it is difficult to see the clear bulb behind the clear plastic packaging. Good Luck.
  14. Hello Lucy, Surely all you need is a spare brake light bulb, in red ? Try Halfords.
  15. Toyota Super Long-Life ; viscosity 30 percent. protection to minus 12 degree (should be enough. 8 litres. Should be available from any Toyota dealer. I am sure other members will suggest cheaper alternatives.
  16. Hello Stewart, Welcome to the Forum. You are correct; the Forum does contain a wealth of knowledge and experience. Lots of reading for you to do. Several 'experts' on hand to help you (and others) should you need it.
  17. I believe there is, and it's on this Forum. I suggest you search for Cruise Control, or similar. The search box is top right on your home page.
  18. Hi Lucy, Can't your MOT garage get you the correct bulb and fit it for you ?
  19. Not cheap ! Quite an understatement; and mortgage rates are increasing !
  20. Hi Alan, Mains voltage here varies from 220 to 240. I'm not an electrician, but domestic supply is well over 10 Amps; closer to 30 is my guess Some campsites offer mains hook ups; known as EHU. Different sites have differing maximum current. These EHU points are common in converted vans. I have an EHU, with 5 off 240v outlets throughout the Van. And a similar number of 12v outlets from a leisure battery. I am not sure what House Battery is; but I assume a Leisure battery. As 240v can be lethal it is essential that anyone wiring your van must be competent (and well insured in case of mishap). Comparatively speaking, a 12V leisure set up is straight forward but does need expertise as a split charging relay needs to be fitted. ANY wiring passing through metal panels must be suitably protected and insulated. I know Melbourne is a tiny place; but you must have some expertise nearby. Check out any American RV outfits. I don't use an inverter; but know they can work. A small quiet generator may be worth considering too. 10 Amps is a lot of current; suggest you check what Oz campsites provide. Good Luck
  21. Jump Leads in mine, as the Alphies have a habit of not starting unless the battery is in tip top charge.
  22. Hi sheldon, Problems with power doors are not uncommon on this Forum. Please search sliding door. The search box is top right on your home page.
