  1. Make sure you have your room / mood lights off. Just be aware that there will be residual current drain even with the ignition off. Check the condition of your battery terminals, and battery connections. All owners need to ensure their batteries are, and remain, fully charged. Don't just assume they are.
  2. Hello Martin, I am NOT a mechanic; I would be concerned. The real issue is where the filings came from ? I assume you know they didn't come from your engine. Probably needs a really good flush, possibly more than once. Hopefully a more knowledgeable member will offer better advice.
  3. There are many Convertors, and many versions of a conversions, and many different utility configurations. I have not, yet, come across an Alphie with an underfloor waste storage tank, complete with remote lever for emptying. However..... (there must be at least one out there). With a side conversion, open the offside sliding middle door and I would expect it to be there, possibly behind some movable or hinging panel. Good Luck, and hey presto !
  4. Hello Suzanna, So sorry to hear about the problems you have been having. How long have you owned it ? Did you buy it Privately or through the Trade ? To sell through the Forum, you must include all the information specified in that Section. Please read the conditions and add the necessary information. You need Mileage and Price, and other details. I understand naming a price is a real issue for you. I have decided to allow this topic for a short period in order for you to receive suggestions on what the knocking sound could be. Initially, I'll allow a week, then review the situation. In the meantime, I'll send you a Private Message.
  5. Hello Wendy Welcome to the Forum. Do you have a rear conversion or a side conversion ? Either way, most tanks are close to the drain hole in the sink. Try and follow the pipework from underneath the sink. Probably you will find a plastic tank which you will need to remove, empty, and secure back in position. Good Luck
  6. Hello Jill, Welcome to the Forum. Thank you for sharing your solution.
  7. Does the starter try to turn the engine over, or just nothing ?
  8. Sorry to hear about your mishap. I think you will find the paint code is 042. Whatever, the paint code will be on the vin plate on the lower B pillar, passenger side. Hopefully you can open the door to locate it.
  9. I was wrong ! I believed some video I had watched; or my memory is giving out ! Oil filter is on front of engine; under the exhaust manifold.
  10. Hello Julian, Welcome to the Forum. Good to hear you are very pleased with your purchase from an Alphard Club member. Happy Alpharding
  11. Are you anywhere near Ashwater ? Starider is there and may be able to help you. He is ex auto trade. I believe the oil filter is 'behind' the engine nearest the firewall; not the easiest to get too. Many other members do self servicing, so I am sure you will plenty of advice.
  12. Hello Owen, Welcome to the Forum.
  13. Hello Richard, Welcome to the Forum.
  14. Did you check the Insurance thread on this Forum ? Adrian Flux are not normally the most reasonably priced insurance brokers.
  15. Geralt is correct. For the benefit of V6 owners; it it only the 3 litre V6 that has a belt (not the 3.5). However, the engine is a non interference design . So what ? If the belt breaks on a non interference engine the valves will not hit the pistons and wreck the engine. You will break down, and you will need a new belt and need to get it fitted and timed correctly. The above is not true if the engine 'drops' a valve. Either way, if you have a V6 get the cam belt changed, if needed, or risk a stranding.
  16. Hello Fred, Welcome to the Forum
  17. Hello Jethro, Welcome to the Forum.
  18. Are they the original shape ? The photo is not an Alphard, so proceed with care. Let is all know if you buy some .
  19. You won't be disappointed
  20. The manual I recommend is an Owners Manual. It will not help you with many of the above issues. It will show you fuse box locations, and which fuses are in which boxes; and all the fuse ratings. I have already messaged you, privately, through the forum. As a member of Staff, I have access to your email address. The benefit of not using Private Messaging is that all our members can read your issues and offer their suggestions. The Manual does contain instructions on how to operate the seat manually. I am no auto electrician. My standard advice to anyone with electrical gremlins is to ensure your starter battery is in tip top condition and is fully charged. Check also the battery terminals too. There is little point in progressing without checking those fuses. I am reluctant to offer any advice that may have a detrimental effect. I have read that disconnection the battery for a couple of hours, and reconnecting may allow the various ECUs to reset. I could send you the written part of the manual, privately,; but it would be quite a task. But without the illustrations it may not be much use. Read my previous private mail, it lists the tools you will to work on the seat. Where are you in OZ; your nearest city ?
  21. I'm sorry to contradict Chris.ac here. Either Chris may have made a small error, or a small typo. If a typo, 2007 should read 2005. My 2006 V6 is ULEZ compliant according to the TFL website. I did use my registration to confirm this. Other cities may have different requirements.
  22. Some of the larger companies are planning to withdraw from supplying LPG. Some have already withdrawn. So there is a trend. However, I would have thought, living where you do, in a large conurbation, supplies should be available for quite some time yet. Check out the major company websites, Shell, BP, Exxon (Esso), etc; even the supermarkets. Most will exit the market after providing some reasonable notice. One other point to consider, is how long you expect to keep the vehicle ?
  23. I think you can look up any charges on the TFL website, if harrow falls with their area.
  24. Hello Rach, Welcome to the Forum
  25. I agree with Geralt and WD40, but would just like to point out that WD40 produce more than one product.
