  1. That procedure is for resetting the electric window switches on the drivers door, I don't think it does anything to the locks.
  2. I tried the vehicle selector and it doesn't seem to know about Alphards. I tried my number plate as well as searching by make - no model matched though. The Previa looks to be the closest, or maybe the avensis.

    For a laugh I would say that maybe it needs cheering up and to try telling it a joke, but on a serious answer I would suspect a worn bush, bearing or something where it's rubbing against something it shouldn't.
  5. You could try a scrappy, several advertise on ebay and the rest of the internet. It would be worth your while looking at amayama.com to get an idea of how much a new one would cost.   6. I think Mark has two Alphards - a 2.4 and a 3.0. I guess he could always create a second account for discussions on the 3.0? I'm wondering what else it could be: could the petrol be taking it's time to get to the engine? maybe there is something like a non-return valve that is not working or missing. That could happen after any long time of not being used, not just when it's cold though. weak coils or spark plugs would surely show up when running. a loose earth would show other symptoms blocked air filter would be worse when running I would imagine Are there any codes showing on an OBD? If you don't have one then it would be a good move to get one - they needn't be expensive but you will need one that is JOBD compatible.
  7. I would start with amayama.com to get the correct part numbers and then look around for ones that get to you more quickly, and possibly more cheaply.
  8. A thought - could it be a low-quality petrol that doesn't ignite easily? As it runs Ok otherwise I would assume it's not fuel starvation.

Does your exhaust smell rather too 'petrol-y'? mine was so I tested for codes and I was getting P0171 "system too lean (bank 1)" Cleaning the MAF didn't help - the error would come back after clearing it. What fixed it for me was changing the fuel Lambda sensor which, on mine, was a struggle as the previous mechanic had forced the sensor into place and had damaged the thread. An M18 x 1.5 tap and die cleaned up both the thread on the exhaust and the new sensor which I purchased - I would warn to be on the lookout for ones with the correct plug on the end as the cheap ones come with bare wires that need to be housed in the original socket (as the supplied ones don't stand a chance of fitting) and are bound to cause issues. I ended up getting this one: https://www.autojapspares.co.uk/toyota-alphard-anh10-anh15-24-front-fuel-ratio-sensor-34437-p.asp Which is rather expensive compared to the cheaper ones, but arrived quickly and was a straight plug in. If you haven't located the fuel lambda sensor look at the exhaust manifold cover behind the radiator, that would be the bank 1 sensor. As one of yours is saying bank 2 that will be underneath - see the second picture, on the exhaust under the car - trickier to get to. I also changed the fuel filter and the air filter - which may have helped but less so that the sensor I would say. I hope this helps - though I don't know about the heater control circuit I'm afraid.
  11. I would try sitting on one, move the whole seat back and forth a bit and lift and drop the levers, as both are doing it I suspect it will be something to do with location or something not clicking into place.

  13. Have you got a JOBD reader? that would give you the error codes that would help track down the issue. Once you know what the problem part is you can get the part and any special tools you need, or at least a garage will have a better idea of the work required.

  15. Sorry - not really, it looks like I have a drain somewhere, though goodness only knows where. I replaced the battery (from Tanya Batteries) as the existing one was old and that helped. I fitted a voltage meter in the lower cubby hole so I can get an idea of voltage at least. I also bought a Battery Jump Starter to keep in the car - as the Alphard doesn't get used enough I am expecting to have to use the jump starter a fair bit. Once it's been for a long enough run (at least 30mins) it's fine, but over winter it doesn't get that. Oh and there may have been a loose earth connection on the battery in there - it was a while ago.
  16. I would assume that it's for feeding something optional that could have been fitted to the door - extra speakers, indicating mirror, heated mirror, door lights maybe? I would take a look at amayama.com, put in your vehicle details and see what you can find. I guess you could also see if power goes to any of the connections when things get turned on and off, but that will take a long time, if it's getting power at all of course.

On my 2.4l 2005 I have the following fuses on the passenger side: And these for the drivers side: So if your cruise control and ABS are working try looking at the engine computer (though I suspect this would be obvious if they weren't working). I'm inclined to suggest that a connector has worked loose as a side-effect of the cable replacement. Good luck. Paul

  20. Good morning all, I have a working reversing camera but it doesn't give a particularly wide view so I have been looking at others. The one that I have that works is this one (170° Car Front/Rear View Reverse Parking Camera Waterproof Night Vision Camera): I have tried two other ones, this (720P AHD Vehicle Rear View Reverse Camera 170 Degree Lens Night Vision Parking Assistance Camera CVBS Rear Camera HD Color Image): and (AHD 1080P Reversing Camera, Rear View Camera 360° Rotatable Metal Housing Universal Reverse Camera for Car 170° Wide Angle IP69K Waterproof Night Vision): I went for those as the video connector was the same (or close enough for the last one) so I expected the video to work but neither of these do, while the first one works fine. The ends in the car are these: The head unit is rather old by the looks of it: and the back of it has the expected tangle of wires: So this has more to do with video output types than anything else - is 'AHD' a new format that uses the same physical connectors or something? Can anyone tell me what camera features I should be looking for, or maybe the head unit replacement journey is about to happen? Any thoughts, cheers. Paul

  22. Do you have a 2002 to 2008 or a 2013? Either way there are cleaning, polishing and sealing kits available if you are Ok with a bit of manual effort.
  23. If it's a factory fitted unit have you tried amayama.com? Postage takes a while but if you put in your vehicle details it will tell you which part numbers you need.
  24. I can't help with the Vellfire wide of things, and the fuseboard is a different layout to mine. However my front fogs are a 15A feed, so I would assume it's that one which isn't working. But that's not a factory-fitted addition :-) It is also a non-standard way of adding feeds. It looks like one side of the fuse has been cut away and a cable soldered to the end. I would like to think that both soldered ends are on the fuse-protected side (i.e. that should the fuse blow the original and the extra feed will stop) but I would have thought they would be on the same physical side for that to be the case. It will definitely be worthwhile finding out where they go, I would hope they are power feeds for two different bits of kit, at least the blue for 15A and red for 10A makes sense. Good luck. Oh and for (possibly useless) info my 15A feeds (2005 Alphard) in the passenger side fuseboard are: Front Fog Lights Eng Computer Cig Lighter Acc Socket and the 10A feeds are: Rear Fog Lights Rear Tail Lights Switch, Aircon illum ABS, Powerslide Door, Cruise Rear Wiper Aircon, Audio Seat Heater Eng Computer, SRS Airbag Shift lock, Door Mirror, Audio
